The Wire S1E01 "The Target"
After hearing nothing but praise for this show, I just had to check it out. So far, hasn't grabbed me, but it's a rare show that's able to do that with a single episode. Loving the soundtrack, and I can definitely see myself falling in love with this.
Gonna keep at it, see how things go.
The Wire's definitely a grower, not least because it takes hours before you can figure out what the hell they're saying (very helpful to use subtitles...), and who they're talking about. Personally it took until near the end of the first season to sink its hooks in (and it tried
very hard to shake out those hooks with the second season's initial abandonment of most things that had been established, and introduction of characters I didn't give two shits about), but once it has you, Morpheus's entire stockpile of pills couldn't break your immersion and enjoyment.
