I've only been this attached to an animal one other time, but at least he lived a full life. 4 years old is just unbearable. It couldn't be a flu, or pancreatitis, it just had to be leukemia.

My first cat lived a long life. He went senile, and was going outside the litter pan. That's when he was put down. I didn't let go of that for about two years.

How's Huggs doing?

Aging about 5 years per day.

Today consisted of waking up with him next to me. The thunder scared him last night, and he curled up by my face, because he feels safer near his daddy. When i woke up, for 5 seconds life was normal, then reality came crashing in. Blue skies and perfect weather this morning. His energy was gone quickly. I gave him his medicine and fluids, which appear ineffective and that he dislikes. He slept a lot.

I took a break to wash my truck that I'm trying to sell. Some ambulances went by then doubled back. A helicopter landed a few minutes later. I walked to where I could see. I guess somebody had died in their vehicle, or was dying in it. The last time a life flight crew landed here, it was because my one of my family members had drowned, so that was weird. The helicopter took off as the storm moved in. Had a guy come look at the truck. Stood in the rain for 20 minutes, all he did was break my hood release lever and leave.

Made dinner and spent more time with my little one. Finally broke hard, I could tell it was coming. I washed the dishes, went outside and stood in the dark. Cried a lot, screamed a lot. Prayed, begged, and generally just made my feelings known. A cold wind kicked up and I came back inside. I'm just sitting here in the dim, watching MASH and giving him kisses while he sleeps. I'm exhausted.
