I'm strictly a lever action and revolver guy.

Concealed carry vs. open carry.

Which is better?

Both are insane.

Yeah, you're quite right, both are friggin' awesome. Apples and Oranges as they say.

Open carry only seems practical if you're wearing a law enforcement or military uniform.

I always kind of pictured you swaggering through crowded shopping malls with twin Ruger GP100's sheathed in butt-forward-crossdraw-holsters on the hips, Pancho Villa bandoliers over shoulders, Durango Rebel boots, telescope crown hat with a 4 inch brim and a black shirt with large white lettering on both sides saying "HATE THE SKULL!!".

Somebody down the road is burning through the ammo.

Started out with a beta mag, and then about five 30 rounders. Now they've moved onto the handguns. Makes me want to nap.

Well over 1500 rounds and still going.

At least the cows have calmed down.

I am for both concealed and open carry. I wish Canada had a second amendment.  :-X

Huggs

Still shootin'.

QuoteYeah, you're quite right, both are friggin' awesome.

Sure, if one goes by the original definition of awe - inspiring fear or dread.  Though I was more going for 'delusional'.

'Frigging' could also be apt.

Unfortunately, shopping malls aren't quite as ubiquitous as they used to be.

Wouldn't open carry help serve as a determent, if for example you're walking through a really rough neighborhood (or some really rough woods)? In other words, help to discourage any helpful blokes who might offer to lighten your wallet?
[...]
But the main reason I'd never open carry is that bad guys don't wear holsters or display their guns openly for a reason. They don't want to be identified and put down before they can use their weapon. Neither (quite frankly) do I. As long as it's concealed, you're still armed, but you don't have the target on your back. I hate the word "tactical", but I see open carry as a tactical disadvantage. Because there's a lot of bad guys who just don't give a $h!t about deterrents. They're willing to shoot people, and their work is much easier when they know who to shoot first.

Yep!

I'm using this IWB from Black Arch Holster for my .45.  One of the very few companies I could find that had the holster available for my H&K.

I know, I know, I was just teasing you. With regards to carrying/owning a gun, it's probably pointless in countries/areas like the UK, Northwestern Europe and probably Australia/NZ as well. USA seems to be more open to debate, they've got safe areas and not so safe areas and who can deny someone the right to protect themselves and their loved ones in such a case?

I will however say that I find American gun "laws" kinda scary (at least in some states) not to mention baffling as well. While some states do require firearm licences and background checks they should all at least require some kind of formal and accredited firearm training as well. Anyone who owns a gun should know about things like proper trigger, loading and barrel discipline and when they are legally allowed to resort to lethal force.

Laws like distinguishing between open/concealed carry, vehicle carry, magazine limits etc just seem silly and petty to me.

They seem to be going the same way as the old, dusty Western frontier towns...

But I think it's a good look for you to cultivate. People will take your views on "The Skull" much more seriously I think.  :P

MOVE TO 'MERICA

If my wife would I would. I lived in Michigan when I was 18 and Texas when I was a bit younger. I have some family in Florida and Ohio and friends in Nebraska. My wife though she has never left the province  ::)

My parents started private schools for churches and then moved when they were up and running. I have gypsied my way though all of Canada and USA lol. I will say this about Canada though. If you leave southern Ontario or British Columbia every one for the most part is a very responsible gun owner although what we can own and how we can transport and use it is extremely limited. I will try to find a link to the laws and edit this later but I'm pretty sure they changed the law so that in all of southern Ontario the. Largest round you can fire for hunting is .223 witch for deer I would use something bigger you don't see any moose or large game down in southern Ontario but still I would use .30.06 or 7.92×57mm Mauser but maybe that's overkill  :-\

Probably the happiest I've ever seen a gun make somebody, and it's a Ruger revolver.
