Quote from: robbog on Mar 17, 2024, 02:26:28 PMHi, my name is Rob. The first time I saw Alien in the cinema, I was one years old... :o  it had just been released and my parents thought it was a good idea to go see it with me  :-\ . Since then I have always felt something special with these movies

And I thought my 5th birthday was young!

Quote from: Hotwater on Mar 17, 2024, 02:52:17 PMHello have been a fan of the alien/predator franchise since I was a young boy, the 95' Kenner toy line got me hooked. This seems to be the best place for all things avp!

Too right, my friend! Welcome to you both. Please have a gander over our rules before you get stuck in, and I look forward to chatting to you both on the boards. :)

Hi everyone. Never introduce myself. I'm a fan of both Alien (first place) and Predator franchises, and videogames.
Happy to be around!

Hello, my name is Aaron, 42 years old, living in U.K.
Been a fan of the alien franchise since I was eight years old. I caught a brief glimpse of bishop being torn in half by the alien queen and understood nothing about what was going on (why did he have white blood, how is he still alive etc), but I was captivated.
Then one day at the age of 10 I discovered a graphic novel in a book shop called "Aliens: book two." A quick flick through and I found a picture of an Alien queen. I realised it was the same thing as in the video I saw. Thus began a life long love affair with the franchise and Expanded universe.

I hold some controversial views, such as I think alien 3 is a better film than aliens. And I believe the theatrical cuts are far superior to the special edition and assembly.
But I think alien directors cut is better than theatrical. I'm all about the egg morphing.
I think Prometheus and covenant are great despite some flaws and don't deserve the hate that they get.
Absolutely hyped for Romulus.

Hello, Hello,

Glad to be here!

You probably can tell from my namesake I am a fan of Elizabeth Shaw.

I love all the Alien films, though the 1979 Original to me is in a class of perfect films that can never be bested. I am able to enjoy the morph aspect of the Xenomorph Saga by not expecting each subsequent film to top the Original, such a feat seems to me impossible, so instead I look for new vantages, interpretations, and developing mythos each director adds. I adore that the Alien series is eclectic, no two films quite the same in style, though Covenant came close in part to Prometheus, it still to me felt different in tone.

I am waiting with great anticipation for Alien Romulus. It will be the first Alien film I see in theaters!

See you around The Xenomorph Hive. :)

Hey everyone!  New here, but by no means new to being a fan of the franchise.  I've loved the series literally as long as I can remember.  One of my earliest memories was getting jump scared by the Dallas sequence in Alien.  I had a cup of apple juice.  Threw it in the air and it landed right in my lap.  To this day my parents still think I wet myself.

In middle school, my favorite Halloween costume was Hicks.  He might still be my favorite movie character.

I've spent the past few days here obsessing over every detail I can for Romulus and finally decided to just sign up.  That teaser made me feel like a kid at Christmas. I can't wait!

Great username!

The Egg Morphing in Alien's Director's Cut is the only scene I wish was added back into the Theatrical Cut, it added another level of horror.

Alien3 was the first film I saw pieces of, my introduction to the Xenomorph. So it has a special place in my heart for that alone. I prefer The Assembly Cut but the theatrical cut scene of the Queen Chestburster emerging as Ripley falls into the lead works.

Hi, thanks.
I thought for an while about a user name. Everyone one calls it "the engineer ship" or "the space jockey ship." But there was a time, long before the adventures of Elizabeth and friends, that when talking about the alien ship in Alien, it was just called The Derelict.
No one seems to call it that anymore.
Simpler times.

If I could add one more scene into Alien's theatrical cut, it would be Ripley and Parker seeing Brett taken away. Always seemed odd to me that he was attacked alone and then they both describe what happened in the next scene.
Unless the cat told them. 😄
In 2003, when i finally saw them witness it, was a game changer for me. Throw in the egg morphing and a sprinkling of cgi stars with the space scenes, and that was it for me, directors cut all the way.

As for my preference of Alien 3 theatrical over the assembly cut (checks watch), how long have you got. 🤣

Indeed, Ripley even says in Aliens, "did IQs just slip when I was away? Mam I told you it was not from there, it was a Derelict space ship, we homes in on its beacon." I still call it The Derelict because that is Ripley's description. :)

The scene where Parker and Ripley see Brett is taken by Kane's Son is a nice touch.Ot does make sense why Parker knows The Xenomorph is so big, bur in the theatrical cut I just assumed he saw it and was giving us his account.

*Looks at watch*

I got time. :D

I'm with Ridley Scott on this one and still call it the croissant. 🥐
