Haven't got around to playing 1 yet, but I quite enjoyed 2 and 3, even dwelled in the multiplayer of 3 for a while. I never liked Judgement all that much because I never really liked the characters, some of the weapons were kinda cool, but it just felt like it wasn't worth 40quid.  never even bothered to finish the GOW3 segment in it. I will admit it is kind of enjoyable if you have 3 other friends to squad up with.
