Ok...

As I mentioned before, I found this monitor-like lizard rummaging around some weeks ago. I held it because I've never seen this sort of specimen around my area before. Any of you know what it may be?

its defiantly a whiptail lizard. The are not in the monitor family, but are more related to Lacertas and Tegus. These guys are more common around Arizona n' New Mexico.
