I've noticed the gore porn as well.

But I think the show has a fine line to walk between faithful and overdone.  Glegane's butchering of criminals/peasants? for no reason seemed obsessive.  But he's also a dude that has shown excess cruelty throughout the series in the books
Spoiler
beheading a pretty prisoner in the books for distracting his men with rape, feeding Vargo Hoat pieces of himself as he cut off his arms and limbs.

.  The Clegane fight scene was pretty faithful actually the only real difference is that
Spoiler
Clegane smashes Oberyn's face in with his fist instead of death by Roy Batty.  In the book I don't remember him even punching Oberyn but the once and basically as soon as the mountain grabbed him it was over.  But I also seem to recall reading that 8' tall Mountain in the books also wore ridiculous amounts of armor that added to the mass of his strike.

I don't know.  Sometimes it seems to hit the mark and sometimes it doesn't.

This is the guy who recently described a movie as evil. This is tame coming from him.

It was actually the rationale behind the movie, but close enough. But yeah I've lost it.

Just mad. I just, Game of Thrones has so much going for it, it doesn't need the excessive crap and combine that with the constant lack of any real, entertaining, feel-good payoff, or what us writers consider a 'conflict resolution' () it's just worn me down. You really can only get away with it for so long and go 'realistic, errrr.' It makes you look like you don't really know how to write, just pull shocking gimmicks out of your ass repeatedly.

Spoiler

I feel they exaggerated Oberyn just to one-up the weddings. Feel pandered to. Sucks when there are shows like Mad Men out there that don't even come close to needing to do anything like that to be excellent.

Conflict resolution doesn't have to be happy. :P

It would help to have some wins in the series.

There may be one or two upcoming but they are far outweighed by losses.  The series does suffer from so much negative shit happening that it becomes distracting.  It does eventually feel like Martin is constantly maiming, torturing, defeating, killing his characters to f**k with his audience.

I'm a bit amazed at how much i've come to like Sansa as a character. Her scene in this ep was so... machiavelian. X) She's really come into her own.

Sansa and Petyr... they are a power couple! :D

The series is making her seem more in control than she is in the books.

True. But I find her chapters in the books some of the most interesting as well. Perhaps they are taking her in a new direction in the show or they might know something we haven't found out in the books yet. Would be surprising, yet strangley fitting, if her and Baelish ended up together. :D

I don't think she has feelings for Baelish.  I think she's finally learned how to play the game unlike the rest of the Starks.

I think she might end up being the fittest to rule out of all of them.  She will have the Stark compassion and sense of fair play, but will be able to see manipulation that other Starks haven't been able to.

Yeah, it's just the amount of negative shite and loathesome characters. I literally do not care about hardly anyone, and that's a rare thing for me to feel in solid tv shows.

Compare it with other series where you have an entire cast of characters, all interesting, all leading different struggles and lives. GoT is like a bunch of disgusting assholes that you're forced to follow for weeks on end while they manipulate and murder anyone trying to do the right thing. xD

I do like the ups and downs of the characters, but in a way, it defeats its own purpose. I've hated Sansa for a long time, since the beginning of the show, same with Littlefinger. Now I'm suddenly supposed to start liking her, why? Because the show says so. Because she's one of the only people still freaking alive lol. It's just odd logic.

No, show. I chose characters to relate to, and you killed them. Bummer.

God knows it would take a little of the sting out of it. I might come back to the show when that happens. In the clothes-o-rama nudey contest, she's one of the few remaining contestants!

It doesn't help that some of the likeable secondary characters are killed off or not mentioned in the series.  Greatjon, Ser Balon Swann, Lady Mormont, etc.  Lots of times it makes it seem like there is no one in the corner of the characters in the TV show, when everyone even Tyrion suspected by people of killing Jeoffrey has people speak in his defense.

I realize this is something they can't realistically do, but damn I miss some of those peripheral characters.

Here is hoping that when Howland Reed makes an appearance he is ballerific.

I don't think there are any feelings either, but like she said, she knows what he wants. But since I'm a sucker for romance, those feelings could always grew a bit warmer as time goes on. If not, they could still be an awesome power couple. I don't see her outsmarting Baelish anytime soon and she's better off with him, so they'll be together for quite some time at least.

On a different note - someone give Ser Barristan some damn armour, please.
