QuoteK...the BBC says it has a 90% kill rate, that's pretty high.

You left out where it says "up to" 90%.

As I said earlier if you look at the recorded cases since 1976 vs deaths - it's about 67%.

QuoteGhana does have the problem but its not as high at the moment.

Where are you reading this?  Only thing I can find is as of August 2, there are no cases in Ghana.

Was on the news a few days ago, I recall because one of my work mates has just gone there (the idiot).

I personally wouldn't go anywhere near central/west/east Africa right now, why risk it?

Well yeah, if your express purpose for going there is to exchange bodily fluids with an infected local...

Indeed but you never know, a cough, sneeze, simply drinking from the same cup by accident whatever, accidents happen.

Better not ever leave the house.  Might get hit by a bus.  Accidents happen.

Well that's being silly, but going to an area, which I think has the disease, or even if it doesn't (yet) is very close to the affected area, is just taking a risk for no reason. Would you go to Israel right now or Syria? you could, I'm sure there are areas that are not affected but it probably wouldn't be a good idea until things have calmed down.

People dying in large numbers in Gaza and Syria is now comparable to a country where no one has Ebola.

Oh, Hubbs.  Dear Hubbs, you are so mercifully free of the ravages of intelligence.

Because Africa is f**king huge, and the chances of getting near an infected person is ridiculously slim unless you're an aid worker.

Seriously, how big do you think the continent is?
