So on to on op of the bullshit with my grandfather, my parents left on a round-the-world trip in February, Sydney to London. They'd booked it last year, long before the first case of Coronavirus, and when they left Coronavirus was still predominantly restrained to China and neighbouring countries.
The same time I found out about my grandfather, my parents messaged to say the trip was cancelled (about a third of the way in) and they were returning to Australia. They had to transfer ships at Vietnam, and did the first ship-to-ship passenger transfer since f**king Blackbeard sailed the seven seas.
They were supposed to arrive in Western Australia on Friday, but they just found out they're actually going to be quarantined in an island off WA for 2 weeks first.
But the best part is, they found this out from the news. The WA government told the f**king press before telling the cruise line. I had to tell my parents what the f**king situation was based on a news report, because nobody on the ship knew shit other than "2 weeks on an island".
This ship has been tested 3 times. There are no cases. They haven't made landfall in over 2 weeks. This is a waste of resources. But even if it wasn't, tell the f**king people affected before you go gloating on the news about your f**king quarantine measures.
The utter f**king incompetency of the state and federal governments in this country makes me want to f**king scream.
