Ridley Scott does not like the voice-over, seeing what happened to Blade Runner, so either it's for viral material or some voice for the ship's transmissions. Maybe it's someone from the base with which they have radio contact, like Mother in Alien, but being a physical person.

Ridley Scott does not like the voice-over, seeing what happened to Blade Runner, so either it's for viral material or some voice for the ship's transmissions. Maybe it's someone from the base with which they have radio contact, like Mother in Alien, but being a physical person.

Scott never had any problems with voice-overs. It was originally his intention that Blade Runner should have voice-overs in the tradition of film noir. The earlier BR scripts all had voice-overs that Scott himself introduced. The problem he had was with the type of voice-over that the financiers ultimately shoehorned into the film which was basically Irving the explainer instead of the more lyrical and cynical voice-overs typical of 40's noir cinema.

But I agree that voice-overs wouldn't really fit in an Alien film, so could well be for one or more of the possibilities you mentioned.

No, Dean is not going to do voice over like that in original versions of Blade Runner...
perhaps he ll do character voice (ship AI perhaps like mother or even some alien voice/Engineer or character voice over)
or he ll provide voice over for viral stuff.

Could also be that one of the characters in the film will be dubbed over for whatever reason. That happened quite a lot on the original Star Wars films.

P.S.

I must admit I tried to find out who ll compose a score for the movie but
nothing for now. I think they ll reveal that info soon. Do you remember those
recording sessions, those were the orchestral soundscapes by Stefan Behrisch and that work is
finished as far as I know. The recording of the main score is yet to begin I presume.
But  we ll have to wait to see who ll compose the main score.
