Joint Second best Trek Film ever. Just a fantastic end to the era

I'm not really a fan of Trek but I genuinely love some of the (pre-reboot) films, with that being my favourite. I especially like how it does away with the future utopia stuff and instead presents people as more realistic shades of grey. Seeing Kirk being outright racist (xenist?) towards the Klingons was an especially nice touch; imperfect heroes are so much more interesting and believable (and it's not like he didn't have good reasons).

The other Joint Second best Star Trek Movie. Patrick Stewart is just incendiary, especially in the Ahab scene

That was on TV over the weekend (assuming that might be where you watched it?) and I ended up sitting through the end even though I've seen it a bunch of times before. Great movie. Always nice to see Stewart do some legit acting. The Borg look bloody stellar.

Yeah SYFY were doing a Bank Holiday Movie Marathon so i was able to catch them.

Same Ive seen them all so many times before but They always drag you in

Annihilation - on Bluray

Interesting movie. Walked the fine line between being "good slow" and "bad slow". But I liked it well enough. I give it 2/5

Dollman (1991)
Entertaining B-movie.

Stephanie (2018)
Horror drama. Well made, decent casting and acting but not my cup of tea.

Blue Iguana (2018)
(Very) average action comedy.

The scene where they entered the place, that's sorta how Covenant should've been.

Yeah. :) They also did films like Puppet Master, Subspecies, Demonic Toys and Trancers.

They even did the great crossover Dollman vs Demonic Toys lol

Bone Tomahawk (2015)

Train To Busan (2015)

I have been waiting to see both these films for ages and they do not disappoint

Miller's Crossing (1990)
First viewing. Certainly not bad but I expected a little better.

Some Kind Of Hero (1982)
Richard Pryor in a drama with a little bit of comedy.
Ok I guess.

Road House

Definite contender for the manliest movie of all time - it's just 90 minutes of classic rock, bar fights and titties. Then Patrick Swayze tears a man's throat with his bare hands and suddenly cars are flying through the air on fire. Fantastic 80s cheese.

CHAPPiE

I'd been dying to see this again, not because I especially loved it first time, but because I really wanted to see if my opinion changed with a  second viewing. Sadly I think I liked it even less this time around. There are definitely some great elements - in particular, Sharlto Copley is bloody excellent in the titular role, and while his character's a bit over-the-top, Hugh Jackman makes for a great bad guy. But too much of the rest is either poorly executed or just an inferior rehash of stuff Blomkamp has done far better before - most obviously, the final battle with the MOOSE is simply a less exciting version of the amazing mech battle in District 9. A bit of a mess, and overall not an especially entertaining one.

Indeedio.
One of the best movies of 2017. I recommend it to everyone.

I probably need to finally watch Roadhouse sooner or later. It's got Sam Elliott, too, right? ;D

I have yet to see it either. It's one of those movies where I know it's just too cheesy, and I just can't bear to tell people I watched road house. Maybe if they remake it and tone it down alittle bit. And change the name. I don't care if they call it "street building". Otherwise, once it's over I have to grow a mullet and blast freebird on cassette. The rules say so.

Don't think it was that cheesy for its time.
If you don't have a problem with other older stuff, this shouldn't bother you either.

I'll see it someday. I just don't know if I'm ready for that level of cheese yet. Maybe next year.
