I didnt care for the "patriotic" vibes of ID4... fun flick otherwise.

When Emmerich took on the Japanese monster genre we got a disrespectful turd ashamed of its source material, while Pac Rim embraces it full on. It's way more genuine. Between the two filmmakers it's not even a contest. Emmerich's been riding on ID4 for way too long.

There is a strong creative presence in Pacific Rim, one that surpasses ID4 in my opinion.

They both have artistic integrity. It's not strength as in power, it's strength as in having firm foundations; being undivided and complete. They both have their own design logic that they adhere to and is internally consistent. You either have integrity or your don't; they both do.

What you're trying to say is "I liked the look and designs of Pacific Rim better".
