The problem I have had with turning franchises into a TV series is that it often removes the grandness. The sets usually feel smaller, costumes look like Halloween store, and effects look cheap. My examples are every Star Wars show from The Mandalorian to The Acolyte trailer.

Agreed. Alien: Covenant used a slimmer font, too, but that was at least in the same font family as the original logo's boldened Helvetica Black.

The font the show seems to be using is just not right - it was also used for the show's announcement, so it's seems to be the one they're sticking with.

EXCLUSIVE: Foundation star Sandra Yi Sencindiver has joined FX and Noah Hawley's Alien series which is filming in Thailand.

Exec-produced by Ridley Scott, the prequel series will be set towards the end of this century (a few years before Prometheus, and some thirty years before Scott's film). It'll be the first project in the franchise to take place on Earth and has been reported to deal with the emergence of the story's infamous Weyland-Yutani Corporation and the race between corporations to create new android life.

We understand that Sencindiver appears in multiple eps and will play a senior member of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation. We hear there's scope for the character to grow in future series.

I feel like the creator of the show is just making on universe of his own, Just like Neil did With alien 5 before it was canceled

They say it deals with the "emergence" of WY, so it may not necessarily have the conglomerate in this. Deadline sometimes gets stuff wrong. Either that or Hawley is completely ignoring/retconning Prometheus.

The actress is Korean, so she can pass as Japanese. Perhaps a Yutani executive?

There's only one explanation for all of this timeline kerfuffle we're experiencing here, of course:

"alternate reality."

We'll get one of those, and through it David will travel back in time and get stranded on LV-426, that way the Derelict and its cargo can be ancient while still retaining David as the one in the chair. Win, win for everyone!
