Also saw Beverley Hills Cop 2.

Dune
Very talky. Very slow. Felt like a buildup to something else instead of a film in its own right. I almost want to watch the second, because I've seen everything that's been set up, but I can't say I really enjoyed the first.

Watching right now. It's weird but interesting. The music cues feel like they're out of a different movie.

Woah. That was a monumental cinematic experience. Still processing it all but visually it's on such a grand scale that it leaves pretty much most things I've seen for dead. It really does make the first film seem small by comparison. I don't get the Empire Strikes Back comparisons (I mean I do but that is an odd comparison). This personally feels more like a Ben Hur or Lawrence of Arabia epic.

Started off interesting but ended up boring me. Story has been done before but better, and the space spider could be replaced by literally anything else.

Agreed on this. It's so much to take in on one viewing. I was of a similar view with the first one as well. I did enjoy both on first viewing but going in again knowing what to expect will allow me to focus more on the details.
