Given that covenant is 1 minute shorter than Prometheus, they had better include everything they've cut.

I just hope what they have cut is not all script-building character interactions. You need a few "normal" mundane moments in a movie to offset and heighten dramatic/edge of your seat moments.

delivering a directors cut would be a huge financial opportunity, and I think that greeting covenant in the form it is in the 1st place has everything to do with wanting the franchise to branch out in and more efficient manner - thus strengthening the alien name... And judging by the amount of intermediality that happened, including a virtual reality experience for VR googles... I would say this opportunity is too good to Fox to pass on
