Vin Diesel's 'Riddick: Furya' to Begin Production in August

QuoteVin Diesel will suit up again as Richard B. Reddick this summer. The "Fast and Furious" star is set to begin production on "Riddick: Furya," the fourth installment of the "Riddick" franchise, on Aug. 26.

The film, which follows 2000's "Pitch Black," 2004's "The Chronicles of Riddick" and 2013's "Riddick," will shoot in Germany, Spain and the U.K.

In "Riddick: Furya," Riddick finally returns to his homeworld, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins. But there, he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster — and some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.

The project reunites Diesel with writer and director David Twohy ("The Fugitive"). Diesel will produce under his One Race Films banner alongside Samantha Vincent. Thorsten Schumacher for Rocket Science and Lars Sylvest for Thank You Studios will also produce alongside Joe Neurauter.

Twohy, who wrote and directed the previous three "Riddick" films, just completed writing the financial thriller "Big Dogs," to be directed by Ridley Scott.

Meanwhile, Diesel has a hefty slate of action projects slated in his future, including the "Fast and Furious" finale, Mattel's "Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots" film and Universal's "Kojak." Last month, the actor shared on Instagram that all his upcoming films were "fighting for position" to begin shooting with him, but now it seems "Riddick" has won the race to film first.

He's been teasing "Riddick: Furya" on social media in recent weeks, sharing photos from the previous films and gym selfies as he trains to once again embody the anti-hero.

Rocket Science represented the international sales rights and has completed worldwide cornerstone pre-sales to the U.K. (yet to be announced), France (Metropolitan), Germany (Leonine), Spain and Latin America (Sun), Benelux (The Searchers), Poland (Kinoswiat), Canada (Elevation), Scandinavia (Scanbox), Portugal (Lusomundo), Switzerland (Ascot Elite), South Africa (Empire), Greece (Femeway), Middle East (Front Row), CIS and Baltic States (Volga), Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Czech/Slovak, Republic Former Yugoslavia (ProRom) and Thailand (Sahamongkhol). CAA Media Finance is representing the North American rights.

Diesel is represented by CAA and Linden Entertainment. Twohy is represented John Burnham of Atlas Artists.

I like this a lot. Much better first impression of the character than the reveal of Cavill's Superman from MoS was.

Not a bad looking suit. But the S is...odd. I don't like it. I want to the more classic D symbol.

Very convoluted, roundabout, clunky wording in the Tweet to try to get the point across that Furiosa is a prequel. But, God, cannot wait to get my hands on a ticket as soon as it goes on sale. Dying to see this.

Quote from: The Shuriken on Today at 11:49:59 AMI miss Prednesday.  :'(

I use to always get hyped for all the little teases, I also miss the days when a single way included 3 figures. Everything sucks now.

Feel the same way as you do... No new regular sneak peaks from Neca, and one Predator or Alien figure per year if we're lucky. Times have changed.

Quote from: Still Collating... on Today at 04:38:44 PMDon't remember which product had the same kinda problems with Disney being slow on the approval. It is strange though, since some other things like most of the original novels, don't get that treatment.

We were past Alien's 41st anniversary by the time we finally got the 40th Anniversary art book. But even that wait seems quaint compared to this.
