The editor of L'Ecran Fantastique thought that this was the real one. Located at the "L'Ecran Fantastique" Facebook site
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=325529380793767&set=a.276578139022225.89129.276360265710679&type=3&theater. I suppose someone will have to give him the news. The editor told everyone on his own page that it was the official. I really hope that they don't use that photo in the official poster

I informed them.
But sometime they do this on purpose to have more traffic.

I did already on the editor's own page. I think it was a genuine mistake. The magazine is a big publication in France, better than you're average magazine about Sci-fi since Cinefantastique began its descent to death

I did too, haha.  Posted a link to the deviantart page.

Same here ^^

Ecran Fantastique sucks.
They love everything and their articles are mostly cut/past of press kits.
The only good magazine for genre lovers in France is MAD MOVIES ;)

Hmm, I guess they're kind of like the equivalent of the UK's The Sun newspaper.  If they're going to run with a story, then they should at least verify their sources first.  That pretty unprofessional of them.

Publication française méchante!

After I told them it was fake:

Eric Bourel:
QuoteOui ,je me disais aussi ,c'est assez moche et on a vu les photos !
Yes, I thought also, it is quite ugly and we saw the pictures! (Translated by Bing)
 Well, I actually liked it.

I tried to comment that its fake, but it must be approved by a moderator before it gets posted.

Looks like an honest mistake.
The fanart is making the round everywhere as official.

Funny thing is that the original image is obviously a promo mockup (the scales are all wrong) that will probably end up as an official poster ^^

Also, as much as I appreciate a good bit of fan art (and that poster is good fan art), there's no way an official poster would have that photoshopped lens flare, applied in that way.  It shouldn't have taken much for them to suspect that this wasn't the real deal but rather a tasty piece of fan art. ::)

Wilful ignorance in order to boost traffic = sloppy journalism.

This is the Prometheus Fanart page.

I don't recall RoaryUK mentioning it was real, either.

I prefer the tag line "God is a man of war"

seemingly the original poster would probably look like that ...........
that is, what the scans portrayed.
