Grid takes out Chopper to its own ability to sneaky. Celtic loses to Grid because of its own arrogance (can't get more Predator than that). Scar dominates at range when he gets the plasma caster. etc, etc. It's one of the film's own strengths imho.
I still feel like there's a better way to handle it on screen. Myself, I love both franchises, but their crossover always leaves a sour taste in all media but the games (for me). I think *because* I'm not keen on the two universes mixing, I'd like to see it done differently. I'd like to see it go the horror route as opposed to action (I know that may sound weird when one thinks of AvP) but I often picture something like the setting of 'Alien' - dark, claustrophobic, space a vast, empty, silent place. One xeno, one predator, and a ships crew. The predator would be kitted out with less technology, similar to seen in 'Prey' so the xeno wouldn't have to be nerfed. Rather than having the two beasts constantly duelling it out, it'd be more opportunist encounters between the two, with each knowing when to retreat.(and a crew slowly piecing together what is going on/figuring out they are dealing with two very different threats) Basically, 'Alien Isolation' with a feral in the mix. I like to picture scenes like we saw with Dallas in the ducts, except instead of the alien, the creepiness of seeing the outline of a cloaked predator in front of a strobing fan... that sort of aesthetic. Drop the AvP title to lose the association with action and simply retitle it 'Alien: Prey' (I feel a fan fiction brewing 😂)
