Phoenix insignia I designed for the police force in a short dystopian play a friend of mine wrote and directed, entitled Ashes. This bad boy was printed onto t-shirts 'n shit.

(Yes, the phoenix does have thematic and symbolic importance to the play.)

I landed on the pinnacle where we had starved together and, a few hours before dawn, watched a new star appear over the western horizon, flare to brilliance and fade as it moved away, becoming just another star, then a dim star, and then nothing. I walked to the edge and looked down the sheer rock face to the dim frozen rippling of dunes half a kilometer below...

That is...beyond beautiful.
It sort of reminds me of the look of David Lynch's Dune, a film whose look was probably the best thing about it.
In doing relatively little, you have managed to encompass everything.

While not a direct inspiration, Dune was definitely in the back of my mind whilst drawing this. Favourable comparisons with that visual masterpiece are just about as high a praise as I could hope for.

Great to see you drawing again.

Even greater to see a scene from possibly my favorite novel illustrated in almost the exact way I had imagined it as I read. Gorgeous work shading the sand dunes and with the soft atmospheric glow. The off-set title and the elegant font choice also works beautifully, really selling the emotional weight and mood of the scene. Hope to see more stuff soon, because I am loving this.

Thanks for the words. I am hoping to get drawing more. This idea had hit me in May, I'd scribbled it down in my planner. Stumbled across it again, and just felt this sudden urge to draw it.

No promises on a large volume of artwork. If I'm struck with more inspiration, though, that'll change things up.
