I've always wondered about the hive webbing, do they puke it out of their mouths a la frat party or is that where the dorsal tubes come in... a la frat party

I wouldn't be surprised if they can puke it since they puke up acid on occasion. 

Would also like to see them using their tails like a stinger to incapacitate their victim.  There was supposed to be a scene like that in Aliens.

If memory serves, in River of Pain they're said to puke it up. I might be confusing it with the goo they hurl up on people to knock them out in the novel, but I vaguely recall the book also suggesting it's the same stuff their hives are built from.

Interestingly, the Resurrection novelisation revisited the idea - there's a scene where one of the scientists discovers a whole bunch of soldiers and staff stung and knocked out just after the initial breakout occurs.

It's interesting that the cocoon looks more like the egg morphing cocoon from Alien than the type from Aliens.
