The shitty design ruins it.

agreed. otherwise, a good picture.

i've always liked this one:

there's a lot of good art to be had in the comics, too.i.
Agreed , Especially the covers executed by Dave Dorman

well, that's not actually officially an alien. Its a pre "Alien" concept that giger drew, i think part of his "necronomicon", that ridley scott liked and wanted the alien to look like.

Whats the best Alien pic/painting you've seen?

I think this is awesome  8) :

Since we're quoting old posts, I thought I'd go back to the OP. Rather fond of this one despite the lousy Alien design.

You're thinking of Necronom IV which was done before Alien was even a thing.  The painting above is indeed an Alien.  The slightly cropped 'ALIEN' is kind of a giveaway.

I think they based it off of Crocodiles actually.

Not entirely sure, but they cited Crocodiles as being an inspiration to make a tail that could believably propel them through water. They also looked at Dolphins and Iguanas for their actual movement underwater.

Makes sense I guess. The tail doesn't bother me so much as the limbs do. They're over-sized.
