Well, about Bolton. I´m happy to poll a controversy. I have to take the PRO side, as he is indeed Gigierish in his style (I once had the opportunity to see original artwork of his, as well some of the ALIENS covers at a comic convention in Germany)
And the size over-exaggeration of the ALIEN is more to be seen as a composing factor. Not a real scene with depth, but like a Egyptian wall- relief with sizes as signs of importance and characterizing (in particular here: threat) and not a perspective scenery.
The iconic "side view" rendition of the painting and therefore the anatomical incorrectness do that prove.
