The second one's an old display piece from Stan Winston Studio, I think. Always found it interesting that those had the extra thumb, as opposed to the suits and puppets used in the film.

I think Winston wanted it [he drew it up in concept sketches] but some of the hands were unwieldy [the fingers were made much longer] and they may have felt it was an extraneous detail for something that wasn't going to be seen anyway [Cameron wanted to hide the Alien in shadow and silhouette as much as he could - strange shapes in the dark!  ]
