For that scene it was attached on the front so it could be simpler to shoot what Scott wanted to show.

wow that must be the most blatant angle i've seen.

just look at it, the image is centered on the Pe- tail, the angelical Lightning, the outstretched arms, how it descends to our stature like we were on our knees, they went all out with this one.

Always liked that one. But i remembered that there's this pic with more of its body....or maybe i have just dreamed this.

Hanging the tail from there put less strain on it or something, so it was easier to shoot. It wasn't something that is meant to be seen in the film.
