Corporal Hicks

The Alien universe can be a cruel and punishing place. It's a lesson Ellen Ripley learned with the waking nightmare that was her life after the Nostromo first landed on LV-426. It was a mortal lesson that Corporal Dwayne Hicks and Rebecca "Newt" Jordon didn't get the chance to learn but experienced none-the-less.

And Doctor Elizabeth Shaw was also subjected to the cold and uncaring cruelty of existing in the Alien universe after she and David arrived at Paradise, the Engineer's homeworld, following the events on LV-223 during "Prometheus".

When the marooned synthetic David and surviving crew of the expedition of the USCSS Covenant arrived at the Engineer necropolis, the ageing and malfunctioning synthetic lied to the crew about Elizabeth. Elizabeth Shaw's fate. David told them that their Engineer Juggernaut crashed when their deadly pathogen cargo accidentally deployed while they were landing. Dr. Shaw was tragically killed in the crash.

Later, as Walter went to confront David about his lies, he came across Elizabeth Shaw's very cold and very dead corpse in David's own quarters, not buried in the garden amongst the living as David had earlier told his synthetic brother. Her internal organs had been removed, and a strange biological growth had appeared around her head – a tribute to H.R Giger's Li artwork, of course.

It's no secret I hate Prometheus.  But I still enjoy watching behind the scenes, making of material and early drafts and cut scenes elements of Prometheus, and believe it or not Resurrection as well, as the film making process, etc, still interests me.

Excellent video @Corporal Hicks  :)

Got my profile pic from this! Well written Corp. Hicks!

An element of the Alienverse I enjoy is the bleakness, that you think you have won and the forces of the Void (black goo) will come calling with a recompense. Not matter how hard you strive or fight the shadow, it will inevitably find you; like a grim reaper more grimme than imagination.

Shaw's fate was hard for me at first. Prometheus' ending had a sense of wonder, almost Narnia meets landing in the moon; or "to go boldy where no one has gond before." But I accept Shaw's dark fate because this is the world of the Xenomorph, all you get is time, carving out years, days, minutes before you become part of mutant pantheon or due resisting it.

It is strange many seek paradise in the traditional sense, heaven as Shaw's Father spoke of, but for some reason it is Hades that beckons, even Dante's Inferno is more popular than the Paradiso. Is it that this world is full of horrors and fears that a bleak end and afterlife is easier to accept? How does one who has suffered in life even imagine a happy realm of no more tears? The Alien's franchise offers a different answer, that the Void is merciless to both the cruel (Vickers) and the kind (Shaw). "There is no escape.."
Ultimately comes down to "its what I choose to believe." Shaw was nice to David and it reaped an awful fate, but at least she remained herself, despite all she saw and experienced Shaw choose be kind, even if it was to an Android that would forge from her the most terrifying of nightmares; hostility from the mother of kindness, is that not the way? Often the offspring are nothing like the parent.

I got carried away again... this was cathartic. Thanks.

David killed her.

The Cruentus

Wonder how he did it though. Did he just strangle her, poison her, kill her in her sleep etc? He did seem to hold some respect for her so I wonder how he would go about it.

^ Yep that.

Immortan Jonesy

I wonder if she was later reanimated with the mutations saying "kill me" or something? :o

I wan a see a Sil/Dark Woman Elizabeth face off with Ripley 8.

Ripley: "I am the Monster's Mother."
Shaw: To a tainted strain maybe, I am the Mother of The Pure Blood.
