Yes, just look at how advanced NASA's technology already was way back in 1969 when they landed on the moon.  It set the foreshadow for most of the technology we have now.

Also, I believe that some of Alien's old technology will be seen throughout the ship as well.

Everything looks pretty old fashioned in that still.
Also,

Scientists in a laboratory, a la the Prometheus:

Miners on a rig, a la the Narcissus:

You kind of see where this is going, right?

Yeah, and have been convinced...though there would be no reason for the outside of the ship to look that way.  Wonder how it does fare.

I thought the same thing.  Mind you, the Sulaco was generally all shiny and new looking.  And to be honest so was A-Deck of the Nostromo.  It just looked messy and cramped, because the art direction was 'busy'.  And more than that it looked lived in.

Too soon to judge from the stills, but it does seem to carry a bit of Star Trek/ 2001 aesthetic in the space suits.
If we do take it that it is not a prequel, maybe not in the same universe, it won't matter as much I suppose.  And just sticking in an excuse, though I still can't really judge anything as of now, scientists aren't the type to have porno lying around and nude chicks on the walls.  Research vessel wouldn't be as "lived in" in general, I would think.

The funny thing is that I didn't doubt Prometheus as a prequel that much until these stills came up.

Forgive me for being brash, but you'd have to be blind to not see that these Giger-esque designs aren't set in the same universe.

Depends if they wanted to challenge the stereotype I guess.

These look pretty fine to me:

kinda bummed the face doesn't look more "other worldly". looks like tom cruise.

Yeah this bothered me too, I mean a statue of that size must have some significance. Bearing in mind we've now seen a place most likely not Earth but breathable, could this really be how the Gods look (which I doubt) or is it the engineers (Space Jockeys) in their true form. Another thing also leads me to think the Jockeys might be humanoid, Scott has always referred to them as "the higher being who challenged the Gods", but could this really mean the Space Jockey's were an advance form of humanity in bio-suites? Our future you might say, who steel this fire (in the form of an urn) from the Gods. They end up on Earth which is terraformed using a pure form of alien, that we've also heard much about, and use this "fire" to create more of themelves before the Gods eventually catch up with them. We know from Scott the Gods deal these Jockeys a terrible fate, so perhaps they were bannished to LV-426 and the alien set against them, which in turn breeds a new creature. Years later an archaeological dig on Earth reveals the key to our creation, a team is sent to investigate but someone gets greedy and the whole thing repeats itself, only this time the Gods were ready, they already knew where we came from and prepare to unleash their wrath on all humanity.

...Not too different from the original synopsis, which FOX denied, but probably way off the mark anyway, lol.

The head could symbolize a human lifeform as well. This room might be a storage for "human DNA"...maybe it is some kind of starter kit. Create life on a planet, drop those heads so people can pray to 'em. There are hundreds of theories out there

I don't think that they would spoil such a thing with promo images...

Depends if the Gods made humans in their image.

I think this face is found in a pyramid on earth as opposed to another planet? If not, and bringing this into the real world...if humanity was jump started by something else somewhere else, it makes sense that we resemble it to some degree. It's an easy stretch.

If it was found on Earth, then why are they wearing space suits?

Still, why would they be wearing space suits?

Farked if I know.

Just interesting they're wearing suits without helmets.

Kinda like the original Starbeast where Broussard takes his helmet off before he's hugged.

FYI... the footage at the Comic Con looked far better than those horribly clean and 'shopped photos. They must have been taken by the usual set photographer... without any post processing.

Be not afraid, Scott will deliver.

Can you tell whether the Comic Con footage looked similarly graded to this?:

This color grading was done in photoshop in an attempt to visualize how the shot would look after post.
