Doesn't matter.

Doom is just Wolfenstein with demons.  That's the only difference.  All other aspects of gameplay are the same.

In Wolfenstein you could only create flat maps while in Doom you could also create stairs , upper/lower platforms , lifts & outside areas . Am I correct?

EDIT :
QuoteThe engine is fairly simple, using maps composed of tiles, which only allow 90-degree angles between walls. Planes are shaded with flat colors instead of having textures

If your talking lineage then more FPS owe its lineage to Wolfenstein.  It was first.  Doom might have popularized the genre amongst gamers just like Half Life might've popularized the genre after it had become stale.

There was some other game released with them that didn't get the play that doom did but was around at the same time doom was.  Don't remember what it was called though.

People breaking them are playing way harder than necessary, the game is super responsive.

corridor 7 sounds familiar, I'd have to youtube it to see if it is what I remember.

Duke Nukem 3D took a shit all over DOOM. You could look up and down and f**kin fly on a jet pack and kick with a mighty boot. DOOM got outclassed decades ago.

Yes but DN3D despite its art and some enemies, its very wacky. DooM is dark and diabolical.

DOOM was dark...in it's day. It looks and feels like a cartoon now.

Just thought I'd stop by, nail a shock combo monster kill wicked sick adrenalin last second save, and mention that UT2004 is the most comprehensive online shooter package ever assembled, and is a timeless piece of brilliance, whether you're DMing, CTFing, BRing or ASing.

Flak secondary still needs nerfing though, get on that please Epic.

Ahhh, Epic. Seems weird to think that in 2004, that wasn't a dirty word.

Even DN3D was outclassed after its release with Dark Forces. Every game that's held up as being a revolution or evolution in gaming tech is outdone at some point. That isn't news. But that doesn't diminish what the previous games brought to the table.

Sound was also able to travel from one room to another. If you were in an enclosed area in Wolf 3D, enemies in the next area wouldn't hear it as opposed to DOOM, they would. DOOM also featured lighting effects, something Wolf couldn't pull off.

And? Still none of this points to Doom being the best fps of all time.
