It's a multitude of factors imo.
1. You got a democrat in the White House and the senate is split, which causes panic on the right where you see alot of gun ownership.
2. We're fresh off an election, which usually causes everybody to freak out. Plus the constant coverage of the riots during the summer made people feel uneasy.
3. There's millions of new gun owners.
4. The pandemic has no doubt affected manufacturing capacity for guns and ammo. Limited number of factory employees and cost of and availability of components.
5. Shootings and talk of legislation. Although panic buying was kind of a problem before the shootings.
I'd say it's mostly to do with the pandemic, new gun owners and recent election results. It will pass, although this is a much different situation than 2013 given the pandemic. We're looking at a higher demand, and I know the manufacturers are going all out but supply is what it is.
