Acid is useful, that's why it's so easy to buy. Although it's easy to make in any case.

I was thinking, if one out of 4 women are sexually assaulted in the US... how many rapers do we have on this board.

Don't worry. The 1 in 4 number is bogus anyway.

The number originated in a 1985 study by Ms. Magazine, of all places, which Mary Koss spearheaded. She wanted to look at the incidences of sexual assault on college and university campuses. I do have a link at home which is a news story where she admits she used misleading questions to inflate the number she found, purely to make the problem seem more serious than it actually is. I'll post it when I get home tonight, but here's some reading on the stat for the time being.

What does that have to do with anything? If you're interested though, here's a video explaining what happened and what it means.

We should take campus rape seriously. But we should also be careful to not create false hysteria, based on false numbers. I think that's reasonable. Dude, rape is serious. It's a horrible crime. All the more reason to not lie about it.

As for #yesallwomen, I don't agree with it. These internet slacktivists do not speak for all women, try as they might. I prefer the hashtag #YesAllPeople because violence affects everyone.

That guys a f**king tool.. the purpose of the anonymity isn't so people can troll it. its because women face much stigmatisation due to putting their names forward.

Using anonymity can potentially lead to abuses of the reporting system. That's what the point of the trolling exercise was. Yes, it wasn't pretty, but it showed a glaring hole in the method used.

I also disagree with this image. The number of false accusations out there varies, depending on the sources you look at. Some studies put them as high as 41%, others as low as 2%. My personal belief, until newer, more conclusive studies emerge, is that they lie somewhere in between those numbers.

Forgive me, but I don't care for people who think they can speak on behalf of an entire population simply because they feel entitled to.
