...these ridges/spines on the Antarctica Queens head?

Or does it really just come down to an alternate design?

SM

On her back you mean?  Same reason the OG Queen had them I guess.

Shorter answer - no.

Katanu

Say what you want about AvP, but the Queen was beautiful.

Sorry, I meant on her head. OP edited for clarity.

Some things are better left unexplained I think.

Ah, right.  Age then.  Like how smoothies go ridged with age.

I reckon.

For her pleasure, of course.

For lack of anything else to go on, I guess I'll accept that.

I imagine it's vestigial from the normal adult Alien.

Oh yeah !

SM

She didn't move properly.

Really, there's something off about how Queen moves in Aliens. It's so marionette-like to me.

I think her movement was much smoother in AVP .

I think that's the point, the Queen's not designed for movement- basically a big hollow set of organs designed to create the offspring more efficiently.

SuperiorIronman

I was pretty sure the movement just had more to do with the creature being made in the mid 80's compared to a CGI model made in the early 2000's and with a newer animatronic.

She moves exactly like a creature that spends all of her time not moving in Aliens.

There's a number of shots in AvP where she moves like she has no weight and frequently works out, rather than being frozen for a century.
