The engineer they are facing, might not be our Prometheus (if the theory is sound).

If he was subjected to horrible punishment by his own kind for his crime, he might be long gone by the time Prometheus arrives on the planet.

Who knows... could the 'accident' aboard the inside the temple, potentially wiping out most of the crew, be attributed to them fighting eachother? 'Prometheus' vs the rest? Could he have unleashed the havoc intentionally...?

Getting ahead of myself here I think... Better go shopping - my mind works better when I'm spending :)

(besides, it seems like AvPG is having tech issues right now)

Ahhh. I see. My bad on that one. I think you got a good little idea coming together here, Eva.

Shopping? Hahahahah....ohhhhhh.

Yeah, I had some technical issues as well.

I seem to recall an idea floating around early on, a rumor or something to do with the plot, that the temple was basically a cult worshiping this figure (The giant head) and partaking in some kind of twisted death/sacrificial experiments.

Could still have something to do with it. I rather like the idea of an alien death cult.

Well, I'll jump aboard the dislike for Logan Marshall Green band wagon and say that his delivery of that specific line

"Miss Vickers, is there an agenda you're not telling us about?" is so overacted and heavy handed....blah....

I hope he's killed quickly, no matter how beautiful he is. He's not even in the same league as the rest of the cast in terms of acting ability.

Prime113

He will probably be one of the last to die.

If you look at the picture of the crew member inside the temple with the acid melting his helmet you will notice the same type of knob on his helmet (left side of the picture) as the person in front of red suit... The darkening may be from the black goo or acid burns...

Made some new screengrabs from the 1080p version - some new details and a possible reveal, so be warned  :)

Remember Ash flipping all those swithes at his control station when they were on the Nostromo bridge. They are fliping switches here too  :)

I think I can make out 2 engineer bodies lying in the rubble
http://i49.tinypic.com/r0xksw.jpg

This could be the place where something went wrong - it looks like a 'lab incident' with that urn overflow
http://i45.tinypic.com/a4l9oz.jpg

Better look at the exploding head with humanoid features - not the jockey helmet itself
http://i48.tinypic.com/2h3n59c.jpg

Fifield and what could be one of the snake things inside his helmet. Perhaps it explodes while inside

That looks like Vickers quarters in the background, turned inside out - notice the barstool. This must be aboard the lifeboat, considering that it has been rumored/confirmed that Vickers quarters are essentially part of the aft lifeboat. The Prometheus itself has been destroyed when this scene happens, me thinks.

The visitor... notice anything...?  ;)
http://i46.tinypic.com/b7la1j.jpg

Look at the helmet reflection - does it reveal the face outline of the visitor facing redshirt? Doesn't look human to me, but you be the judge...

Besides - new theory:
Davids outcry 'They are leaving' + 'Earth' could be him describing what he's watching when the hologram is playing aka the fleeing engineers. Did they actually come to Earth after some horrible event went down, perhaps leaving dangerous parts of their technology behind on Earth to quarantine it? Remember the prologue part with the human growing black veins, looking at his hand?

Could this explain the engineers reaction when he's facing humans aboard his ship? He might be thinking of us as an infected species that should never be allowed to leave Earth and when he realizes that that is exactly what we've done, he decides to go there and destroy us altogether?

PS: those pictograms could be a warning - not an invitation, mirroring the signal in Alien.

PS: watch the 1080p trailer to check out the scenes in greater detail. I don't wanna upload 1080 grabs because tinypic usually f*cks them large files up for me, they vanish etc...
Not bad, for a human.

That photo that everyone is talking about seems to be from the same scene featuring Vickers standing at the ships entrance with an incinerator, denying entry to a one very fukced up Holloway. This isn't a creature moment in my view, and it also seems to be a stretch to see anything at all in that guys helmet reflection. There's no real reflection to discuss.

All I thought of when I saw this trailer was AVP.  Very similar in the beginning.  This movie does look really interesting and could very well be on par with the original ALIEN, but the way the short somewhat generic dialogue is presented in the trailer is for some reason a big turn off for me. :-\

The Giant Head does not look like Michael Fassbender. It features thick lips. If anything, it resembles Logan Marshall Green more. I read a n unfinished screenplay about an archaeological expedition where a bunch of scientists explore a cave where they find a godhead statue that resembles one of the explorers. They are flabbergasted that the indigenous people worship him as their god. Obviously based on stories of Spanish conquistadors, how they are mistaken by Meso-American people as Gods returning to rule.

Ridley said something of finding a lone survivor on that planet,
lets pretend its not the blue giant.
then this guy you see here in front of the redshirt guy has a older helmet look he could be that lone survivor from the first mission? but a bad guy no doubt cos he has the same look as the thing that is getting medieval in the cargo bay.

xeno_alpha_07

This scene reminded me of a scene from AVP:

The scene from AVP I'm talking about is where Charles Weyland is debriefing everyone about the Pyramid and all about the other different cultures that have pyramids, etc.   I won't say what else made me think of AVP...

I'm pretty sure the inference of "lone survivor" was implying a direct connection to an engineer along the lines of it being a "lone survivor of an dead/ancient race"

The difference between this and AvP, is that this has solid actors giving fairly good performances (LMG notwithstanding)
