Yeah, tbh the only thing I use Facebook for is arranging events with friends and sharing photos of said events with them. Otherwise my internet socialising is exclusively AVP-based.

You know something? You're a wise man.

What made me unhappy today? The fact I have had to deactivate my Facebook account because of overdoses of drama, followed by so-called friends who don't want to talk to you or make you feel better.

It would be cool if you could self-destruct your Facebook account like a Predator and take out other accounts with you. ;D

We need to combine the two.

The fact the Predator films have never had an especially decent home video box set.

Looking at finally getting a Blu-ray drive for my laptop in the near future, which means I'll be upgrading the first two Predator movies to Blu at long last. But it makes me a little sad that the available box sets are all just repackages of the individual discs.

What do you consider "decent"?  I think this one certainly qualifies.

If you're still spinning DVDs, just the upgrade in quality alone from DVD to BLU justifies the purchase I think. Plus it will include the 4K remasters whenever you're ready to take that plunge.

I imagine he's thinking more in terms of substantial behind-the-scenes material, similar to the tier that Quadrilogy was.

Ah. The Quadrilogy was more than just decent though. That was exceptional!  Just the alternative cuts alone made it extremely special and unique!

Well like I said, all the UK box sets I've seen are just the regular individual releases with the same lacklustre special features we've had since the DVD era, just clumped together in a slip case.

I don't necessarily expect these films to get the kind of loving, exhaustive treatment the Alien movies have, with all their documentaries and alternate cuts and whatnot, but it'd be nice to get a set with at least some new behind the scenes stuff in. I know the Predator Blu-ray has a new featurette but its like 10 minutes long so it's unlikely to be that enlightening. Considering the second and especially fourth films were edited before release it'd be nice to see something related to that. (I find it thoroughly disappointing how Fox seemed to want to bury all reference to the original cut of The Predator, even having the novelisation reworked by a second author.)

There's also the fact I already own the third and fourth on Blu-ray; getting the first two separately actually looks to be more expensive than just buying one of the sets, so either I spend more than I need to or I end up with a bunch of duplicate discs. If I was getting some new bonus stuff the set would be worth it but there's nothing new in it.

I don't know what you currently have, but in all fairness, what was created for the DVD Special Editions of Predator and Predator 2 are so much more than lackluster. Take Predator 2 for instance, not only does the disc feature two separate commentaries.. Stephen Hopkins and the Thomas Bros.. but the disc contains three Behind-the-scenes featurettes made during production, a fourth Behind-the-scenes featurette with brand new interviews made especially for the Special Edition, mini featurettes for every new weapon the City Hunter has all with Stan Winston's John Rosengrant, four mini special effects featurettes, TV Spots, Trailers, Gallery. It's pretty darn robust!

New would always be fun.

You mean The Predator right? That disc is certainly lackluster.  :-\

I wouldn't put Predator 2 on the same level with The Predator in regards to cuts though.

Remember Hopkins first working cut is what premiered. We know Stephen Hopkins had to make over 20 cuts of gore to avoid an NC-17 rating, it's a mistake to think there 20 versions of Predator 2. There was just no time for it in their rushed production schedule and the subsequent moving up the 1991 release to November 1990, which is ridiculously quick considering production began in February 1990.

Ah. I assumed that you not having the first two in blu (the best ones) that you had none in blu. Yeah, buying duplicates are never fun.
