My recollection being about 12 at the time, was that they were a solid brand. They weren't the next He-Man by any stretch, but they made quite a few figure and the commercials were pretty prevalent. I was getting out of that stuff at that age, but I definitely wanted them. Aliens as a license probably had a golden age (or it's first huge run) as far merchandise goes up until that point. A toy line you could get at Walmart, Micromachines, card games, big comic runs, new movies (for better or worse). It wasn't Star Wars big, but was decent at the time.
