Quote from: Ingwar on Jan 03, 2024, 11:12:12 PMThat's why I said he's done. He did it to himself. People overestimate him. Don't use twitter/X and totally ignore him. Just f**k him.
I agree I believe that he needs to step down from his company.

I think the goal is to turn the platform into a multi-function one, with financing, banking, investing, commerce, and video/audio for news, marketing, conferencing, etc. I think that was his plan for x.com but the tech needed wasn't in place yet.

It's similar with Meta, e.g., Facebook with Instagram and Reels, etc.

The business part alone, with even something like B2B, might allow for more subscription and less reliance on advertising. Also, subscription or even ID verification might prevent 'bots.

One catch is that advertisers don't want certain content. For example, they don't want their promoted tweets shown alongside those showing dead Palestinian kids.

That might be a plan but if he continues what he's doing then he will keep losing investors and so on.

Didn't he go private with Twitter?

Investors in the sense of people who pay to have advertising on the site (his primary source of income for Twitter), which have been fleeing in droves.

I am surprised that Elon Musk reputation fell so quickly after he bought Twitter.

It was falling ever since he called the Thai rescue diver a pedophile for pointing out how dumb Musk's mini sub solution was.

Evil Elon, did he orchestrate the coalitions' strike against the Houthis?

I think his reputation fell with the ones who were previously exploiting the platform. But the former owners are happy because they got a good deal for it, except probably for former employees who came up with alternative platforms that may be floundering.

Meanwhile, it looks like X is mirroring Meta, with other platforms, like Reddit, considering similar strategies, like charging third parties for scraping their data and looking at the possibility of having subscription schemes to counter lack of advertising revenues due to content that companies don't like (e.g., before Musk took over, child porn, and after that, images and videos of dead Palestinian children) and 'bots.
