Have been lying dormant for too long, compiled this list after a long break:

Wasn't totally convinced that the Phased Plasma Pulse Rifle from the Colonial Marines game was the one Hudson meant.

I was under the impression it was. What with them also having the Sonic. Electronic. Ball-breakers! Seemed like they were taking the one-off comments and running with them.

The variety of weapons is one thing A:CM has going for it.

I do find it hilarious, in Bug Hunt mode, if you're playing as Hudson and pick up a smartgun. He's not trained to use it, and neither are Hicks or Apone.

Completely agree. I loved seeing some other weaponry for the colonial marines. And while it was very shallow compared to other games, I also enjoyed the weaponry customisation.

I wonder if the APC cannon was the particle beam phalanx?

From what I remember a phalanx is some sort of old Roman defensive formation. So I would expect it might be some sort of shield?

But then that wouldn't fit the "fry half a city" comment.

There's a defensive weapon called the Phalanx that's used to shoot down missiles; they're usually mounted on naval vessels, but there are land options. They're basically radar-guided miniguns.

Didn't think so. It is specialty training, right?

Possibly, but I can't imagine it's especially difficult to operate a gun that aims for you.

I remember those.

Didn't they get some screen time in sum of all fears?

It is a good military practice for all squad members to know all the weapons in the quad.
Yes, there is specialty training, but basic knowledge is still mandatory.
It is like knowing basic first-aid, but you also have a medic who knows more.
