We never got to learn what the team's designation was meant to be. Just that they were "Federal" and seemingly run along the lines of a civil law enforcement organisation, as opposed to military.
They were kind of like a specialised version of FEMA, but with less people and much more inept.
Personally, I would have liked them to instead use the more authentic term of, 'EBE' ('Extraterrestrial Biological Entity') and work the very real Project Moondust into this, instead of referring back to that, as there's actual real-world information documented about Moondust.
Heck, the famous Shag Harbour crash could have been a text-book example of how a thing like a crashing Predator spacecraft might be dealt with. Having it do so into a large body of water would have all sorts of neat implications for the story and what could be entombed (and then released) from there.
