Best/worst of the EU?

Me too. I can't really describe why though. I just can't "connect" with them for some reason. I have no trouble getting into a book, however.

my highlights are alien isolation, the cold forge, defiance and various bits in the omnibus comics -- nightmare asylum comes to mind

Alien: Isolation is way above most of the EU.
I would also include the 3 main AvP games.
From the books: Cold Forge and Rogue.
Comics: Labyrinth, Dead Orbit, Nightmare Asylum.

There is lots of great material but these that i have listed are, to me, the pinnacle of the EU and I hold them in the same regard that i hold the best of the movies.

I would cheat and put AVP Requiem on the list of worst as well.

These are, for me, like really bad fan fiction.  Absolute garbage. Lol i hate them.

Not really EU, but I consider the Alien Quadrilogy set released in 2003 to be a pinnacle of the series.
All the Special Editions were amazing for a fan.
The movies have been a disappointment like 6 times in a row (starting from 2004).
