I have an outstanding empathy toward Mr. Clemens. His whole life was a torrential tribulation. Not only did he have his career upended, but he had his last moments of dignity stripped away. It was only fair that Ripley came clean about the alien after he confessed his dark past. After all the sticking up for her he did, taking all the heat for Ripley, she repays him by dodging his query and letting him become lunch.
