It's Robert Eggers. I don't think "modern" is in his vocabulary.

I read a draft of Eggers' script a while back (when it was looking like it wouldn't happen anytime soon), and it was a good read. I don't recall it being super different from the original, though.

Since there seem to be several locations, maybe it will be like an epic horror adventure.

I just hope Orlok design looks as memorable as the classic creature. In fact I liked Coppola's Dracula because of how little generic his vampire looked like.

Edit -

I love Anya Taylor-Joy. ♡

There should only be one reference to the original film and that is the shadowy figure of nosferatu walking up the stairs.
I also hope the boat trip to England will be more detailed for once.

Ellen Hutter certainly felt like she was written for Anya in the script.

The 1979 version is the only remake we will ever need.

Robert Eggers seemingly wants Willem Dafoe in his Nosferatu remake:

Makes sense

It would be fun if he played Knock or Bulwer since he's already played the vampire.

I can't speak for the validity of this website, but I would LOVE for news to be true:

Maybe he decided it wasn't worth waiting for Harry Styles after all of the behind the scenes drama with Don't Worry Darling.

Either way, fingers crossed for both this and Last Voyage of the Demeter.

VERY excited that this is finally happening! Going to be strange seeing someone else in the lead role, since Anya Taylor-Joy has been attached to this thing for like, eight years now (guessing that the Furiosa shoot is running long). But I cannot wait to see what Eggers is up to! Bill Skarsgard strikes me as great casting for Count Orlok.
