"Dear Friends,
We need your help.
The Storm School teaser provides an introduction to this ambitious and enthralling feature film project.
We had hoped to make this movie shooting in Ukraine, China, Australia and the UK, but then we had to cope with the impact of Covid and the current impossibility of working in China. And, now, just as we were preparing to shoot the parts in Ukraine this summer, we have the Russian invasion.
Despite these issues, and in the spirit of the film's protagonists, we continue to pursue our dream. We are currently setting up to shoot major sailing scenes in Weymouth. We recently identified an opportunity to complete a significant number of other scenes in Greece this autumn.
As part of the ongoing production, we will engage as many of our Ukrainian colleagues in the coming months as and when they are available. We have already been able to employ some of the female production crew who have escaped the conflict.
Originally a Swiss – Ukrainian – Chinese – Australian – German co-production, the loss of China as a partner has led to a funding shortfall of US$ 2.5 million and we urgently need to secure more funds to be sure to complete the project.
The timing of this film and, in particular the early sequences depicting Soviet-era Ukraine, could not be more poignant. We believe we owe it to the Ukrainian production crew, some of whom have taken up arms against the invaders, to do our utmost to complete the film.
If you can please support us with a donation, however small, your contribution will go a long way to helping us finish this remarkable and unique film.
Thank you
The STORM SCHOOL Production Team"
