I enjoyed this movie, it was far more faithful to the games than Anderson's versions. I like the character of Wesker too, far more likable and down to earth than his game counterpart. The movie basically takes the first two games as a source but that does cause a few issues because the it spreads the focus between two active scenerios, the mansion and Claire's survival in the city. As a result we don't get the full potential of each area, its trimmed down a lot. It would have been better off using one game at a time because there is a few game stuff that is missing that fans will certainly notice, but what they did reference is pretty well fairly done.
Overall, a decent resident evil movie that RT still seems to dislike lol
I feel like the character changes would work better if they didn't mash RE1 and 2 together. Wesker's more sympathetic turn would be given more time, same with Leon's arc from dumbass to badass.
I had some decent fun with this movie on the whole. It's no great piece of cinema, but it had it's entertainment value. Adaptation wise, I didn't care for combining RE 1 and 2 into one story, and Wesker pretty much sucked. The rest of it I was okay with, though.
Good to hear. Im from the UK so still have to wait a little longer. The main take from the RE community seems to be the character personality changes are the biggest gripe. Because they've gone to the effort of recreating iconic room locations from the games for that extra dose of authenticity, it has made some of the character changes all the more unnecessary and jarring.
Plus some people expect Marvel level effects and action on a 25 mil budget it seems.
