Over the past month or so I’ve slowly been working on some updates to our Aliens vs Predator section. I have uploaded:
All three sections are online and ready for your browsing pleasure.
Horror website/magazine company Fangoria have just released their set report of Predators:
“We first walk out to one of the film’s most important sets: the hunting camp. You see glimpses of this set in a few shots in the trailer, and it looks even more incredible in person. As we enter, the dense jungle opens up to reveal the camp area, which looks to be where the Predators prepare and skin their prey. Carcasses are strung up, and sharp, tusklike bones jut out of the ground. Director Nimrod Antal wanted a creek of blood to run throughout, and there’s a large metal spike jutting up from the ground, covered in alien markings. It looks like someone or something could wind up being impaled on it, and makeup FX creator Greg Nicotero seems to verify that later in the day.”
It’s a pretty interesting article and the first of what will be numerous set reports to get released. The report mainly talks about the hunting camp as it took place at the Troublemaker Studio’s. They also confirm that the planet the movie is set on is not the homeworld. Be sure to read Days Among the “PREDATORS”. Thanks to Johnny Handsome for the news.
Most of you should know of Alien Loves Predator. It is the community’s most popular and funniest webcomic and its creator, Bernie Hou, recently got in touch with us regarding a review of Aliens vs Predator he wrote:
“That said, as a rabid fan of the Alien and Predator franchises and changing my underwear, I can’t get enough of Sega/Rebellion’s new “Aliens vs. Predator” game (PS3, Xbox 360, PC). If you’re looking for old school first-person shooter action with the delicious twist of playing as the two baddest killer space monsters in the galaxy, “AvP” is the game for you.”
It goes without saying but he puts his own “Bernie” twist on the review and there are some pretty funny pictures in there. Well worth a read and while you’re at it, you should check out Alien Loves Predator. You won’t regret it.
More and more news has been steadily trickling out regarding the upcoming Blu-Ray boxset for Aliens. Forum member, coolshow, recently uncovered this little nugget:
“Additionally, according to the print edition of the UK movie magazine Empire, this release is being produced by Charles De Lauzirika, who is behind the BD releases of most of the movies directed by Sir Ridley Scott, including the monumental five-disc Blade Runner. De Lauzirika said that, while the Quadrilogy DVD was already very comprehensive, this Anthology Blu-ray set will blow it out of the water, with new extras and commentaries. Also, a new sound mix has been done for the extended edition of Alien 3, which involved bringing back some of the cast to reloop their dialogue.”
That’s a big promise considering just how amazing the Quadrilogy was. The original article also talks of a teaser trailer for the set being attached to the Blu-Ray of Minority Report. If you ever needed reason to get a Blu-Ray player, this is it.
Fox has released a new behind-the-scenes segment about Adrien Brody’s character Royce. It’s over a minute long and like the previous sneak-peak, it’s narrated by Robert Rodriguez. You can watch it over on YouTube.
The Official Predators website also has placeholders for three other character feature videos. Edwin’s will be out on the 30th March, Isabelle’s on 6th April and finally Cuchillo’s on 13th April. Thanks to CWRadin, Johnny Handsome and Eric for the news.
Cinematical, have posted up an interview they did with Predators producer Rodriguez and director, Antal:
“How much freedom did the studio give you?
Rodriguez: They were really good. They came down and they were actually great collaborators, because I guess early on they didn’t want to scare me away. They said, “we want you to protect this movie from us. We want you to make it down there and do it your way. We’ll give you a budget, and if you stay within the budget, you can do anything that you want. We don’t know how you make movies down here for that price, [but] we just want to get in the hands of a filmmaker. We know that’s what you do with these franchises that people try to revitalize, like Batman with [David] Goyer or Chris Nolan, just bringing it into their world.” They said “that’s the only way we can pull this off. Do your thing and make it cool and make it a Troublemaker Studios movie, you don’t have to make it a Fox movie. We’ll release it, but you don’t have to make a Fox movie.” So their only thing was make it as good as you can. So they were just very supportive.”
They also talk about the studio freedom and the score and more. It’s a nice little interview. Thanks to ace3g for the link.
An alternate version of the Predators teaser trailer was shown before Repo Men yesterday. Some scenes have been removed but there’s some additional shots and dialogue too. The shots include a shot of a Predator from the back, and another one running through flames. It’s available to watch over on G4TV in poor quality.

Update: You can now watch the alternate trailer in HD over on TrailerAddict.
Over the last day, Sega has been releasing the first DLC pack, Swarm Map Pack, over the various platforms. All platforms should now have the pack so if you only got the standard edition, now is your chance to get those extra 4 maps. As well as that, the latest patch for the PC has been released. A few of the fixes are:
For the entire list of fixes, you can check out our forums. I’d like to thank Rebellion and Sega for continuing to support the game. Watch out for the console patches soon. Thanks to Prosessori.
As we all know, over the past few months, there’s been rumours of a cameo appearance from Arnold Schwarzenegger in the new Predators movie. There’s more news over on TheArnoldFans who attended an event last weekend. Producer Robert Rodriguez apparently said that there will not be an appearance from Arnie.
This past weekend, writer/producer Robert Rodriguez allowed 45 lucky fans the opportunity to see teasers and trailers for his new film. He also confirmed a rumor that we all feared true: Arnold will not be making an appearance in Predators. Very disappointing indeed. To his credit, Rodriguez did approach Schwarzenegger when he began writing the first draft for the movie. It has also been reported that Rodriguez even offered to push back the movie’s production start date until after Arnold had vacated the Governor’s mansion. Unfortunately, none of these tactics worked and we are now less than four months away from an Arnold-less Predator movie.
Thanks to jordan for the news.
The Predators teaser trailer has just this second been released online over on the IGN. The teaser does feature scenes from the Sneak-Peak that was released earlier but there’s lots of new shots too. The teaser starts off in space which quickly cuts to the jungle and all the characters are shown as well as the various locations.
Be sure to check out the teaser trailer in HD over on IGN. You can find almost 90 screencaps in our Gallery.
