The official premiere for Predators took place in Austin, Texas last night. Today, Predators is now officially released across the UK including some European and Asian countries while the US has to wait one more day. The vast majority of reviews so far have been quite positive, many praising Adrien Brody, the plot development and action sequences.

If you’ve seen it, feel free to check out the Fan Reviews thread in the forum and post what you thought of it. I shall be seeing it later tonight.

I was given the chance to attend an early showing of Predators yesterday. And I have got to say it was better than I’d expected. I’ve written up an in-depth review:

“What I think really makes Predators stand up as a better film is that it takes itself seriously. It would be too easy to slip into that 80′s feel to pay tribute to Predator and make it way to cheesy. Thankfully none of that happens. There are no ridiculous one liners. No stupid characters like Tony Pope. This is life or death and the film does not detract from the severity of the situation these characters find themselves in.”

I found it much better than Predator 2 and far superior to the underwhelming AvP films. The review is mostly spoiler free but I do discuss 2 death scenes so read at your own peril. Be sure to check out.

First Predators UK Review

Predators News | By Darkness on 04 Jul 2010 10:55 AM

The first UK review of Predator has been published by UK newspaper NewsoftheWorld. It’s a positive one – the reviewer gave the movie 4/5 stars.

The pacing’s ace, too. There’s a late introduction of a new human that keeps things spicy (long-term survivor Laurence Fishburne – judging by that spare tyre, the foraging’s pretty good in this jungle), a beautifully-staged samurai sword battle in a field of long grass, and a majestic ending, where Brody goes ‘a bit Apocalypse Now’. With Predators, Rodriguez and Antal have made something old-fashioned, in the best possible way. They just GET what made the original such a hoot – and by and large, have reproduced the same thrills here. This movie sets action film-making back two decades. And hooray for that.

Be sure to check out the Official Review Thread in the forum which will be continually updated this week when new reviews come out. In related news, Predators has been rated R in the US for “pervasive language, gore and strong creature violence.” Also, composer John Debney has posted another sample of the Predators score online. Check it out here. Thanks to SuicideDoors, Royce and Black for the news.

TrailerAddict has posted three segments of behind-the-scenes B-Roll footage from Predators. (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3). There’s over 15 minutes of footage here showing various scenes being shot. Beware of spoilers because I think the last scene of the movie is in there.

In related news, there was a press conference in the US with director Nimrod Antal and Robert Rodriguez. Collider managed to transcribe it all. There’s a similar report about it over on Shocktilyoudrop. There’s some interesting little tidbits in there. There’s quite a long audio interview with music composer John Debney on FilmMusicMag. Lastly, for Australian fans, Predators has been rated MA15+ over there. Thanks to ace3g, Darkoo and SoulWonder for the news.

Fox have just released some new production stills from Predators:

There are four new images in total. We’ll be uploading them to our gallery shortly but in the meantime, the new images are available at Rope of Silicon. Thanks to Darkoo for the RoS link and to Fox for the pictures.

Quite a few new Predators clips have been released online. The first one is called “Over here” which features Nolan’s first appearance. Then “It’s here” which is a big shoot out at one of the predators. That’s followed by “We’re the game” where Royce explains why they are on the planet. The last clip is called “Rude Awakening” where the characters first land on the planet.

There’s also this Max Exclusive Set Tour which contains some new scenes. Thanks to ace3g and 369 for the news.
