This is just a bit of a reminder for the community and an update in regards to the time and day of the AvPGalaxy game night:

  • Our X-Box 360 night has now changed to Tuesday nights at 8pm GMT. It is recommended you have both map packs but I will try to cater to those who don’t. If you’re interested just add my gamertag and let me know you’re interested in the game nights.

For more information just head on over this thread. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Following on from the previous news report, Daily Mail also talked to Ridley Scott and he’s only gone and made things even more confusing:

“Prometheus, Ridley declared, was not — as some have suggested — a  prequel to his classic sci-fi shocker Alien. But he refused to divulge more.”

He also mentions production will start on Prometheus in 3 weeks and that he is really trying to keep the film in complete secrecy. “I was insistent that the script not leak onto the internet, where it gets dissected out of context, which spoils it for everyone.

In regards to an unspecified cast member the article said: “Indeed, one of his actors told me that he could recite the entire screenplay to me — but then he’d have to wrestle me to the ground and, this was related in the nicest possible way, ‘kill me.

Check out the Daily Mail website for more information. Scroll down to This sci-fi’s top secret and read on.

According to the UK paper Daily Mail a further three cast members have joined Prometheus, Idris Elba, Sean Harris and Kate Dickie:

Elba will be best known to CBMers as playing Roque in The Losers as well as Heimdell in Marvel’s upcoming Thor of course. Harris you may recognize from Harry Brown with Michael Caine, or from the original Red Riding trilogy with Andrew Garfield. Scottish actress Dickie will most likely not be well known to US readers but she starred in the bleakly brilliant Red Road in the UK. “

The above quote was taken from the Comic Book Movie website. Nothing is known about the characters they play. Thanks to Invisible Darkness and Mathew Kirk for the news.

.Idris Elba, Sean Harris and Kate Dickie,

Bleeding Cool has posted up an interesting article after having talked to their own source:

“Remember how the alien took on canine qualities after gestating in a dog? You may even suppose that the first film’s alien was so recognisably humanoid because it had grown in a human. The same applies here: generation by generation, the creature mutates. As Prometheus begins, the xenomorph is not too recognisable. Sure, it has that alien DNA that Scott and Fassbender teasingly referred to, but it’s missing… well, it’s missing human DNA. Or dog DNA.

All you have to do is imagine how it might look if it were to mix DNA with another alien species… and I think we’re starting to work it all out.

I learned that the film’s setting is, in part, a planet that has been terraformed to create the perfect environment in which a particular bioweapon would prosper. Terraformed deliberately to farm the weapon? I got no clear answer. Is this bioweapon the alien? I got no clear answer. While there was a lot of wheezing and coughing on my end of the phone, there was a good deal of quiet smirking on the other, it seems.”

Sounds pretty interesting to me. Certainly adds up considering Ridley’s comments about “redesigning” the Alien. Thanks to Shasvre.

H.R Giger has been talking to Swiss newspapers about his work on Prometheus. The following quote is from Blick:

“Giger potters days and nights, especially in his studio in Zurich on his latest creatures. “It is huge. I can not tell what I’m doing exactly, is “strictly regulated by a contract, he gives few words. Transpired, however, is that “Prometheus” in the “Alien” will play universe. “

This would seem to go against a previous report that Giger is only working in an advisory capacity. Another report states that the Prometheus budget is 230 million. Thanks to Darkoo and Alien Prequel News.

It’s been sometime since I posted an update on NECA. They’ve recently released their Predators Series 2 and have shown fans what they have in store for Series 3:

Series 3 consists of the classic Predator 1 Predator (not the Predators variant), Greyback (Predator 2 elder) and the Predator Hounds. They will also be releasing a Predator 2 series in Fall 2011 which according to NECA may include City Hunter, Boar and Shaman.

Other releases will include the Lost Predators from the end of the movie. For more pictures check out the Figures.com gallery.

And to add even more confusion over whether Prometheus is Alien related or not, Dark Horizons have just posted this:

“Another source shot me a message today having read an early draft of the script saying that a “bioweapons planet” is the only link to the “Alien” films in it and it’s a tenuous one at best.”

Key thing to note there is that the source talks of an early draft. The shooting draft may have been changed if SkyMovie’s contact is correct. Thanks to Darkoo for the news.

Alien Prequel News has posted up a tidbit from some of their readers about the UK release for Prometheus:

“According to a press release from RENTRAK to UK cinemas today, Fox has currently set the Prometheus release date to June 1st 2012 for the UK. This release date is of course subject to change.”

I’ve also had a look at the UK 20th Century Fox press site but it currently has no release date on it. I’ve also got some friends who work in UK cinemas checking their release sheets to see if they’ve got anything. Watch this space. Thanks to dandan for the link.

It’s a feature we’ve been trying to get sorted for some time now and we’ve finally got somewhere with it. It’s hosted by myself, Corporal Hicks and fellow staffer, Mikey.

Due to a few technical and scheduling issues our first episode didn’t turn out quite as intended but we got through it and it’s ready for release. Hopefully we’ll learn over time and appreciate all the feedback we can get. Anyway, without further ado:

It’s very much in its infancy at the moment so you’ll have to bare with us as we learn and get into this. I hope you all enjoy the feature. We hope it becomes a regular and popular thing. Click here for the main Podcast page.

SkyMovies has posted up more information from their insider at Fox regarding Prometheus:

”I’ve had further confirmation that the Space Jockey creature is definitely in Prometheus and has been built as an eight foot animatronic. I’ve also had it confirmed that HR Giger is working on the project but only in an advisory capacity. By the way, people are going to be in for a shock when they sit down to watch Prometheus and there’s an enormous semi-human head piloting a spaceship.”

The article also discusses the previously talked about CGI head pilot (engineer). Thanks to Darkoo for the link.
