This is in no way an official confirmation or news. Movie website, CHUD, has posted up a tidbit from an e-mail they received:
“Evening Nick, my mate is working on Prometheus as OMITTED and met Guy Pierce on set today. She’s previously worked on OMITTED, OMITTED and OMITTED and I’ve no reason to believe she’s lying. I’ve not read anywhere about Guy being cast so thought it might interest you.“
They posted an additional comment to say since posting the article they’ve received 2 more e-mails confirming the initial post. I’ve also asked Fox for comments. Watch this space. Thanks to Darkoo for the link.
UPDATE: It has now been confirmed by PlayList that Guy Pearce has in fact joined the cast of Prometheus.
AlienPrequelNews have posted some interesting details on Prometheus. First, there was a call sheet which listed the following actors and their characters: Charlize Theron (Vickers), Idris Elba (Janek), Emun Elliot (Chance) and Benedict Wong (Ravel). Their source also saw three aliens and gave details about the costumes.
“Though security on the set is very tight with the good weather, dock doors have been open and cast and crew have been enjoying lunch outdoors. I can confirm seeing 3 aliens having lunch. Not the whole costume but blueish costumes and the unmistakable heads hanging around their shoulders”
“The alien heads were the same shape but no markings, only a plane bronze colour. As for the suits black boots and shoulder pads the rest was a Chelsea blue body suit could be for SFX, all the sets around the back of the bond stage have huge green chromokey maybe that’s a clue. I have witnessed foam cut outs of unmistakable aliens all cut in half lengh ways so they could be in the floor walls etc and very much from the original film.”
“I managed to enter the bond stage one weekend when no filming was sheduled all I can say is there is a very very long tunnel that leads to an enormous structure at the back of the stage which is the same height as the stage and probably extends out another 200 ft. All of these sets are surrounded by wood foam and scaffold so sid not see inside, I think this is were the Space Jockey set is.”
Thanks to Darkoo for the news.
Sorry we’re a bit late with this one, ran into some issues with scheduling but all has paid off. I’ve just uploaded episode #2 of the podcast. This one focuses on around the discussion of the action figures and an interview with NECA:
And to go along with the release of the episode, NECA has also provided us with some exclusive behind the scenes photos of the Predator 2 series of their action figures. Check them out in our forums. And as always, please comment on the episode once you’ve listened to it.
Entertainment Blog, Market Saw, has just posted up an article containing information on Prometheus which they claim to be have been told from an insider:
“You may notice in the original Alien that the Space Jockey had a puncture on its considerably large chest, where the xenomorph broke out through the flesh of the creature and broke through the biomechanical armor it wears. You may also notice how big the Space Jockey is in relation to its human counter parts in the film. So imagine how big the baby must be, which is yet to grow. Then imagine quite a few of these. If you can do that, you got a pretty good grasp on the final act. And do not be expecting the traditional look either, these are very different creatures that will keep the general architecture of the xenomorph, but will have a considerably different look, and do very perverse things.”
There’s a few other bits in there and it’s worth a read. Thanks to Valaquen and JaaayDee for the links. In related news, Valaquen recently received confirmation from Diane O’Bannon that Prometheus is indeed an Alien film: “I’ve been officially informed that PROMETHIUS is indeed taking off on the original ALIEN story”. You can read more on that in the forum.
You can expect a lot of stuff coming out of Twitter for Prometheus. London based visual effects artist Daniel Sidi posted this on his Twitter:
“I spotted some sets and props being built for #Prometheus at Pinewood Studios. Looking good, very old-school sci-fi. Sorry, no photos ;o)”
When asked to elaborate, he said: “hard to be too descriptive, but the phrases ‘giger’, ‘corridors’, ‘intersecting tunnels’ and ‘organic forms’ spring to mind.” Thanks to JayDee and Daz for the tips.
Ahem…As a few of you figured out the Space Jockey concept art was in fact an April Fool’s from the pencil of none other than our very own amazingly talented Cellien.
And as well that we’ve also made the 10 Most Heartbreaking April Fool’s Movie News Scoops (2011). And there’s more. Other movie sites picked up the image and had a bit of a run with it: Aint It Cool News, JoBlo and FilmShaft.
ORIGINAL APRIL FOOL’S POST: This finally answers the question is Prometheus related to Alien. We’ve scooped an exclusive sneak peak at some concept art from 20th Century Fox:
Most interesting is the inclusion of the Predator shoulder-cannon in the design and the lack of legs. Click here for the full size image (currently hosted on my personal host, it’ll be in the Gallery soon) and keep an eye out for more exclusive content.
