Two more set pictures from Prometheus have found their way online via Alien Prequel News:

The Giger design is even more obvious in this and the second image and it quite clearly looks like something you’d find with Space Jockey architecture. In other news, Neal Scanlan Studios have now been named as being attached to Prometheus to do creature effects.

I think filming could be wrapping up any day now.  Ridley Scott said so at Comic Con.

    Hello everyone. I'm a newbie!

Adding to speculation I read on another website that actor James Payton was possibly attached to the production.

    Last night he tweeted this:

QuoteOff we trot to the wrap party of that thing I did or indeed, didn't do. Not allowed to mention it, so I'm not.

As I said, this is purely me assuming.

And when you assume you usually make an ass out of u and me.

    Anyway, glad to be here.

This is most likely a location shoot, the helicopter being the obvious clue, lol. But I'm just wondering, since there is supposed to be another unknown planet in Prometheus besides Earth, could this be what we come to know as LV426 BEFORE the terraforming took place, if indeed that's what happened?  I mean people often said the planetoid resembles the Derelict, with it's unique 'bone-like' structure, so I figure maybe it's possible!  ::)

    When interests collide...

A Twitter feed for one of my other interests (Arsenal FC) led me to another tweeting Gooner who - believe it or not - is working on Prometheus in Iceland.

And he's posted a few - rather dull it must be said - pics. But the odd-looking futuristic helicopter is intriguing:

Update: It turns out that this oddly earthbound shot from 'Prometheus' is exactly what it appeared to be: a set photo. It was taken in Iceland at Dettifoss by photographer, Cederik Leeuwe.

    Thank goodness.

Good news. Someone noticed, the entrance arch, appears to have a face, similar to the Space Jockey? What is interesting is that the entrance is reminiscent of an picture of the unused HR Giger, explaining the reproduction of the Alien.

I take it you mean this....

As for the 'entrance with a face' idea, it's really too dark to tell what that is, but I do believe a pair of hands form the arch and are definately holding something. :)

Good point. Have asked myself long time ago. They have more of a Jockey than a human in spacesuit.

Oh God.  This image has been caught on by many movie blogs as an "official movie still".  This has pissed me off to the point where I emailed every one of them telling them that it is merely a SET PHOTO from Belgian-Dutch photographer Cederik Leeuwe..

I mean....modern helicopters...really?  It should have caught on to them REALLY FAST that these are merely film crew members working around the location.

But if the expedition really does take place in modern day, then I will be pissed the f**k off because I'll be reminded of AVP.

The door looks a bit like a part of a facehugger (the top part). In the center, you have the spine and if you look to the sides of it, you see, what to me, looks like joints and "fingers" extending from them.

Damn, you're absolutely correct Dowly.  That's fantastic.  I kept trying to work out what the image surrounding the door actually was, but you've solved the mystery.  I like the fact that they've designed the image of the facehugger in such a subtle way so that it doesn't immediately jump out at you (no pun intended).

It's a stylized front on view of a facehugger in it's "wrapped around a head" position.

One thing I picked up from the picture is the little urn like things. Unless someone can say what they are, they remind me of some of the early concept art with the urns in the pyramid (which the first couple of Giger designed facehuggers came out of) could these be what the "pre-huggers" live in?
They are only initially called urns in the O'Bannon script, and later identified as leathery eggs. They were never actual urns.

The whole thing looks a bit too symetrical to be urnes or eggs for me, just part of the design of whatever we're seeing, it all seems a bit moulded and precise, not helped by the poor quality of the image.
We may get a better peek at them when the production photos start filing out :)

    Cool,

Hate to say it, but it might be worth spoiler tagging pictures like this in the future, I mean for me this is border line - I'm really excited about the Giger design and it really confirms in my mind that this is still an Alien prequel despite whats being said.

Going back to the earlier comments of LV-426, its true there is nothing that says that it'll feature in the film, but I'm pretty sure we will be seeing the interior of a Jockey-craft. Whether this is the one that becomes the Derelict or just one of many ships, I dont know.

I would like to think though that the Prometheus will involve Jockey-tech and is the Derelict though, even if its just to quench the fanboy within.
  18. St_Eddie
Oh, wow.  Amazing, awe-inspiring, glorious, mind blowing and fantastic are all words that come to mind having seen those photos, but none of those words can ever do justice to just how thrilled I am to see Prometheus return to it's Giger inspired roots.  Simply wonderful.  Roll on June 2012 (I wish I could crawl into a hypersleep chamber to fast forward to release, with maybe a brief awakening to watch The Thing prequel along the way).
