Alien: Covenant Trailer #2 (Red Band) Released!

Earlier this week we reported on 20th Century was sending out green and red band versions of the new Alien: Covenant trailer. The green band trailer arrived online on Wednesday, a little earlier than expected following a leak. We’ve since been waiting on the red band trailer and it is now online!

As expected, the red band trailer is largely the same as the green with a few minor differences. We get a little extra blood, a shot of Callie Hernandez covered in blood from the end of the first trailer and Carmen Ejogo’s character drops the f-bomb.

Most interesting is a new shot of what appears to be the anatomical study of an Engineer that some of the set reports were mentioning.

The new Alien: Covenant red band trailer is here!

Thanks to Rafael S. for the find. Keep a close eye on Alien vs. Predator Galaxy for the latest on Alien: Covenant! You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to get the latest on your social media walls. You can also join in with fellow Alien fans on our forums!

Here's a question: assuming David has been rebuilt and on the planet for years, doing his experiments ... why has he not taken another ship and left?

It can only be because there are no ships on this planet for him to take.

Where are their ships? Where is their technology?

We only saw a trailer... the ships could be anywhere... why would David leave when he has all he needs to be God?

OK -- not "God" -- but the "Creator of all life" -- he met his creator, he saw his creator meet his creator -- now he is the Creator [God]

Fox royally screwed the pooch in 1992.

They are trying to Aliens this one.
    Many rehashed shots.
    I can guarantee rehashed lines.
Besides the "the food ain't that bad" one

Most things are rehashes. Aliens is a rehash. No harm in that. Just curious, but which shots do you think are rehashed from Aliens? I think the two films are conceptually quite similar and believe that Ridley is paying homage to James Cameron this time around. :)

Most of those who complained about space jockeys' revelation as humanoids in Prometheus.....

... Are going to miss the same 'Engineers' a lot.

Infact, a glimpse of a live Engineer with his biomechanical suit in the trailer would have made me enough excited than a rehashed,  revamped Xeno/Neo-morph attacking people.

You know what you gonna miss? Both Engineers and Xenos when you'll see the god of all things that did all of this:
    A splendid pink unicorn.

This stories clearly don't know where to stand on their own and rely on each to try to tell a great ark.
It doesn't even knows clearly where each installment stands trying to close the gap with Alien but Begging to be something else (and trying it hard).
That'll ultimately be it's own demise.

I hope the f**k not. Give me tons of Engineers in tons of scenes for the next movie.

And wow, the next movie is already written. For once, Fox is treating this franchise with great care. They're just recovering now! They're just realizing they need a franchise bible now! They're just realizing they need to think of an overall arc now. Well between Covenant and its two sequels, we should be treated to a trilogy of tonally consistent movies. The longest string of tonally consistent franchise entries since Alien and Aliens LOL. The only thing that aches my heart is that I'll never see
    Spoiler
James Franco in an Alien movie again. I've wanted him in an Alien movie for years. He could've been Holloway, he could've been the main captain in Covenant or even a co-pilot with McBride, but all he is is a marketing tool and cameo. Disappointing.
    [close]

But yeah, Fox fumbled the ball in 1992 and are just barely recovering 25 years later.

I mentioned this when we first saw pics of David's lab. All his tools, the stands for his creations/experiments, the paper he draws on all look to be hand made.

The Inhabitants on this planet seem to have met their end in their Middle Ages if not earlier. I say 'Inhabitants' because they are not the same Engineers as in Prometheus. The one on the table in David's lab is human sized, not the giants of Prometheus.I'm guessing that this planet is home to another engineered species, similar to us.

if the mural creature is the source of the lv223 tech , maybe the Paradise engineers did not make the same covenant with the Alien

Agreed. I'm double checking with Fox but pretty sure it is.

Did Fox ever get back to you on this?

They haven't officially released this version of the trailer on their own channels and it has some hilarious miss-transcribed subtitles. It could be a fan edit with some footage from the previous trailer added. But then again, where did they get hold of that skinned Engineer shot? It has never been seen before.

Was this trailer ever released by any other outlet apart from vipmagazin?

This has me wondering if David is trying to find a way to make himself more like the engineers. Perhaps to create a soul of his own. A darker version of Bicentennial Man. Or maybe there are some forms of engineer technology that are simply too organic in nature (DNA/genetic encoding) to be controlled or manipulated by David unless he pulls a Frankenstein. Regardless, I'm starting to think David (and not Shaw) may be the Space Jockey from Alien. Which would mean he succeeds in becoming "a real boy".

Yup. I've stated that fact many times.
David is the engineer in ALIEN

Maybe David is alive at the start of Alien?

Maybe he is the WY CEO or at least either on the board or the "pet" of whoever is in charge. And it is his Intel that is used for the Nostromo information known by Ash & Mother.

How the interior of the engineer could be reddish-brown if his skin and coloration it's blue? ...
    I wonder about this too.

Here you can see the engineer isn't red inside, but more grayish.

Yeah but that's also the insides while disintegrating from a shot of black goo...that's hardly a valid example, lol...

It would be "interesting" (not sure that's the right word) if David's head got stitched to an Engineer's body.

I think that's what we are seeing here.

David is real star of Prometheus / Covenant / ?  trilogy,  just like Ripley was of Alien 1-4.  David is obsessed with creation of life;  he ends up creating Xenomorph lifeform, going through various transformations himself both physical and mental along the way.  Piano scene and haunting song "There was a boy,  strange enchanted boy, he went very far ..."  is very indicative too.

I also expect big surprise with Shaw.  There was an early still (before trailers were released) of mysterious figure in cryodeck; everyone thought it was Daniels, but I think it was Shaw & this is how she spends most of Covenant, then comes out at the end for some major and unexpected finale.  Noomi Rapace was 3 weeks in Sydney filming;  she didn't spend all this time just to do few flashback scenes.

I think skinned guy is David, not Engineer.   In several other scenes he had this cloak and hoodie so it looks like on this pic he is taking the cloak off in his lab. This bit intrigues me the most from all the trailers;  I think we are in for several surprises and great ride in May!

my bet would be he grabbed a body that wasnt completely destroyed from paradise and is frankensteining himself into a "real boy"

    My take on it.

Looks like they made it to the Engineers home world, you can see a cloaked figure walking pass thousands of corpses. They got there, found the place 1000 years too late, David was rebuilt, killed or mutated Shaw, she became part of the ship, then David went to a new world to play god?

Wouldnt this be cool if the story went like this, and hear me out. Shaw and David have crashed into our pretty new planet. The goal of their departure in Prometheus sent Shaw in search for answers from these engineers. She was in complete control when they are marooned, David is merely a head. They find all the dead bodies, no life. Shaw doesnt trust David, she keeps him as a severed head. David gives up information. David eventually gets a body. David now can conduct his own expiraments. Shit gets out of hand. David's genius is intangeable. Shaw has kept one step ahead of David and is still alive when Covenant lands. Its her in the trenchcoat. She helps the crew but ultimately dies.

David has created the facehugger somehow we know and love/loathe. He did what our engineers could not and harnessed the power of the black goo. Shaw is the only organism cabable of carrying his creation. The covenant crew are a nice surprise ;)

Is this movie is fundamentally about the superiority of A.I.

Exactly right!  Because now several sites have reported along the lines "David is back, but initially just his head;  eventually he gets full body"
Question is then - who "stitched" him? Shaw?  Not likely -- I think Shaw is not dead, but spends most of the movie in cryosleep & wakes only at the end.  (This sits well with what was released ~2 years ago:   "Shaw' role is much smaller and she spends most of the movie incapacitated)

Also, are these some sort of large screws coming out of his side??

At 1:10 in the Trailer, Daniels asks "What happened here?" It sounds like a females voice replies "10 years" Shaw maybe?
Doesn't sound like it's from the same scene though...

its sounds like someone is shouting "Daniels" in the background to me

It sounds like 'Daniels' but I'm pretty sure it's just a sound effect.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Does anyone have a HD version of the redband?
