Sideshow Collectibles revealed the Alien King Maquette on Alien Day and it’s due to be released some time in the middle of 2017. This is a 20″ tall statue from special effects company Legacy Effects – a successor company to Stan Winston Studios. These guys actually worked on creating the Queen Alien in James Cameron’s Aliens.

Summary

Working in direct partnership with Legacy Effects, the artists and nightmare makers behind the creatures and Queen from Aliens, Sideshow is extremely pleased to present the Alien King Maquette.

Standing as a complement to his Queen, the Alien King is a fully-realized canon character brought forth to once more haunt the dreams that Giger so carefully crafted for us all. Each angle and sharp edge speaks to the beautiful violence that this creature can bring forth should it so desire.

Standing a massive 20″ tall and 21″ long, the Alien King Maquette strikes a pose of unrelenting drive and energy, accentuated by the seven detailed alien warriors that swarm around his clawed feet.

The legacy of H.R. Giger and his film franchise continues to stand as a source of inspiration and reason to explore the outer reaches of what we find terrifying. Join us as we celebrate 30 years of Aliens with this, the Alien King Maquette.

  1. Just got the figure. It is a nice statue, however it is not as incredible as it is presented on the online photos. To begin with the head and body do not attach to each other perfectly. When you put the head on the body, there are gaps due to the pieces not fitting in perfectly. The pieces connect to each other by magnets, however these magnets may not be the strongest. I actually got a King Alien where the magnets did not attract and had to ship it back. I got a replacement thankfully. As far as paint, it is good, but not as mind blowing like in the video. However the real problem isn’t with the paint, rather the glue stains. There are two very noticeable glue marks near the arms of the statue. In the King alien statue I had before, there was glue marks on the face. Lucky my replacement did not have this. The glue marks can be corrected if you have experience in painting. I recommend using Citadel paints.
