AVP2 servers are active (for an 15 year old game) and unless you don't mind playing certain gamemodes (the one server who's running at the time) or joining through the weekends, everything should be just fine. That is...unless the community went high-nigh while I was gone.

although summarize the concept :
nothing is changed and that the current avp2's community is broken and its always a den of vipers.
the point is one thing is do a multiplayer mod Another thing is to force all players to play all the same mod.
there and no harm to create new multiplayer mod for this old game.
and indeed what makes it alive and immortal, but there is a fine line.
this line has been crossed time ago.
