The 2010 AvP Galaxy Awards [Results!]

Another Year of Galaxy...

I'll get this out of the way first: AvP Galaxy is way too prominent in my mind. Ever since I moved from my hometown and lost the ability to directly contact my friends, I started going to Galaxy more and more, to the point where I had legitimate friends on here. It's almost like a form of escapism, but really it's just my current way of socializing. When I do visit my friends, however, it seems nothing has really changed at all- so it's not intrusive at all. Galaxy has effectively surrounded me with hilarious and like-minded people, and I think that's great. As I did these awards last year, I do them again, but this time I do with with a larger point of motivation.

And what a year this was. From the crazy hype of the Mass Effect 2 launch, to the strange troll-attack battles, to staying up all night trying to beat a hangover by meeting it headon while simutaneously talking to various members as the timezones passed  . It's all been loads of fun, and brought me to create Fatale: A Darkly Comedic Sci-fi Series, the best thing that has happened to me since the move. It's kept me going throught the bad times, and stayed my mind from straying into less-desireable thoughts.

There have also been some fantastic additions to the site such as Shobidoo, the Jeff Goldblum-cross-breeding-fanatic, Sharp Sticks, the Stacey Nelkin-I'm-not-Pris and Boba Fett enthusiast, and Pn2501, one of the new film and television gurus on the site.

Another funny thing was the introduction of MSN, because apparently a f**king Monolith appeared out of thin air and presented us with the option of instant messaging. Like the primitive apes, I was quick to beat this into my comrades' heads. Now it's used for all of the fantastic spam, rude comments, sick jokes, and other horrific shit that would have us banned on sight in the forums.

Let me first say the typical shit first: everybody is their own worst critic, so I'm not sure I deserve this award, especially when I'm in the same category as the creator or the AvP Galaxy Comic idea, the creator of Carl Sagan shooting a dickgun, the brilliant forger of avatars and signatures, or Giger's legacy himself. So, thank you, Galaxy, for seeing either my writing, my artwork, or whatever it was, as something creative and to be enjoyed.

I've got to say, I kinda saw this one coming  . The thing that really got me into TV was the reimagined Battlestar Galatica, which showed me how the episodic format could feature a story just as cinematic as a film, and beyond. I became something of t TV junkie since, with the love of shows such as Dexter, Chuck, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Mad Men, and so many more always in my mind. Thank you for the votes!

Look, I don't know if you, the voters, decided to be biased because I was the one collecting the votes, or whether you were under the impression of drugs, but this is quite the surprise. In my time here, I've written a few stories, and a few scripts for my series Fatale, but to see that my writing is actually well recieved enough to be voted on over the other amazing nominees is both humbling and motivational. I understand that my writing was good for a few laughs, but I never thought that my writing in general would be worthy of this honor. This has inspired my productivity on Fatale and other projects- this really is awesome, and I can't thank you enough. Whew, that was more work than stuff a cow with an RPG. Congradulations to all of the winners, and the nominees. Someone that I feel deserve nod is Pn2501. Though I didn't get off on the right foot with him, he soon proved himself to be a fun and respectable member, and he introduced me to Ghost in the Shell, which I watched last night. It was f**king awesome.

I am now going to open a bottle of happiness, and enjoy the rest of my night- hope you all do to! Great year of Galaxy, people, and I'm looking forward to another one- GOODNIGHT! Oh, and Happy Holidays!
